It was such a cloudy beautiful day in Phar Lepht on Friday the mtmynded one and I had to take a ride...

pecan groves
outside the car window
branches wave

...

the cottonwoods squat
along the Rio Grande
~ancient Indians~

(whoops! now counting the syl-la-bells  )

...

mesquite branches (pronounced mess-keet-tay)
hanging husks of dried beans
sparrow harmony

(enough of that counting stuff...hah!)

...

salt cedars
cling to the river bank-
illegal aliens

...

clouds over the mesa
nut trees wave in unison
hello rain

okay...I had a haiku surge!
Freedom's just another word...

above satin green leafy stem, thorns prick me
hurtful rose.

bountiful plains
no more grow the wheat fields, drought strickened
where is the food?

window sees, eyes feel
winter white abounds freely
life is crystal whole.

...
