Thanks Jack & Pierre. It's like the Arctic outside. Here, at least. Snow, ice, dreary grey skies. I thought a little color might brighten up the day.

yeah, that IS good news.

Hope I don't freeze everybody outa here with my snow banner.

I tried the flowers to cheer us all up but it seemed a little off season, so I figured I'd share last year's snow storm with y'all.

I'll warm it up again later.

Anybody have a good photo of a fire in a fireplace? ;)

Well, it use to be a fire place. Now it's a hard working wood stove that supplements our winter fuel bill quite suffeciently.

I had a wood stove at my crib in The Valley. It was a home made job, hillbilly engineering. It was the only heat I had for three room appartment but it was enough. I nodded off on the couch reading and left an upholstered chair too close to it.. Woke with a start to the smell of smoke. Ran outside with the chair and threw it in the snow. Doused it with a couple of trash cans of water. Decided to take it to the dump. Threw it in the back of my car. Went in to get dressed because I was barefoot and in my underwear. Seemed like only minutes went by before a neighbor beats on my door yelling your cars on fire. I run out, (still barefoot) and pull the burning chair out and start pouring water on the back seat of my car. I can’t extinguish the flames so I grab my wood axe and start chopping out hunks of burning foam.. It is only later that I feel the pain of the burning foam that has stuck to the bottom of my bare feet. Signed firewalker.

Thanks for the pictures Dick, and the memories of home.

Now that's a wonderful story. Definately one to tell sittin around a warm fire. I can just see you smashing a flaming chair in the snow in your underwear with slippers of flame.

I use to have a neighbor who swept his front porch roof in his underwear but only when it rained.

A friend of mine, John Shea, just sent me some photos he took on a trip to Las Vegas. Yeah, it's a casino, probably. I just put S8 on the marquee. ;) John's a shutterbug. He takes some great shots! I like this one, too. Thanks, Jack! (And thanks to John. I wish he used a computer so I could show him how I've used some of his photos. He has donated several photos for other banners and offers them freely. But I can't show them to him again until he comes to visit again next year :) )
