I painted this piece the day after watching a documentary about the shroud of Turin, and then reading from Ginsbergs' Collected Works.

cool!

what size is it?

do you mount your paper works and frame them beneath glass?

If not, how do you display them?

It is 22" x 30". I never frame my work, it prejudices the piece too much, so for the paper piece like this I just use straight pins. All of my work on paper is on 300lb rough museum quality water colour paper.

OK cool.... You use watercolor paper no matter what type of paint you're using? interesting

So you put straight pins at the corners? Attached to what? And what do you do to protect them from the elements? I mean, even my framed pictures under glass need dusting and cleaning from time to time. If you don't put them under glass, how do they stay protected?

Sorry to be so curious but I can't help it.... it's the need to know!
I'm an amateur, you're a pro!

heh.... that's poem! yay! lol

No I only use water based paint on paper. The straight pins I only use when hanging in a gallery, otherwise they are stored. I do have some of my older water based work on paper framed behind glass, but like I said it prejudices the work and makes it harder to sell as I find most people want to make their own decisions with framing. Judih has seen my work on paper in a gallery setting. When I do my annual garden exhibit I hang them like clothes on a clothes line. It's very effective.

Thanks, Kurt!... but still trying to figure out

What are you sticking the straight pins into? the wall? or?

If you're storing them when you're not showing them in galleries, how are you storing them to keep them protected?

I see what you mean about people having their own tastes in framing.

Never thought of using watercolor paper for any other paint other than watercolor paint .... so I find it really interesting that you use it for other water-based paints. Makes perfect sense.

Yeah, I've seen photos of your garden exhibit. Very cool!

Still wondering how you keep them from getting dirty and damaged.

Thanks for the conversation!

ps... would you mind if i turned this sideways to make a banner? it's not wide enough for the banner size... unless you have a wider scan?

this will make a great banner!
you told me before i was welcome to show your work as banners and i'm honored... we all are... thank you

I just store them in green plastic garbage bags. I've never had problems with damage. I also spray them with a matte varnish.
