Haven’t been able to hear (yet) the NPR show. I did watched the Larry King interview from the Dixie Chicks link you provided.

Natalie, well they all, kept saying what they found the hardest to deal with and understand was all this hatred in America over her (Natalie) simply speaking her views. What shocked and dismayed Natalie was the teaching of hatred, especially in the children. She spoke of them stomping on their CD's and how there was this woman protestors outside one of their performances that was there with her child (2 year old I think) and was telling her child to say “screw um! screw um!” and she found it shocking, saddening, to see the teaching of such hatred over speaking their views happening here, in America.
