Levitra, Viagra, Cialis and Limited Sovereignty

04-26-04

Anyone who tunes into the evening network news knows that America is having trouble keeping it up. Why elsewould a third of the advertising on these shows be for drugs that treat erectile dysfunction?

Another example of American limpness is this whole charade of Iraqi sovereignty by June 30th. Who do we think we're foolin'? The plan for 'sovereignty' has nothing to do with the situation on the ground in Iraq, as evidenced by the fact that our soldiers keep coming home in flag draped coffins. The 'sovereignty' deadline has much more to do with the timing of American elections than it has to do with Iraqi freedom or self-government. If the Bush administration can make the case, however flaccid that case may be, that somehow their little commercial adventure in Iraq is 'over' by summertime, then maybe they won't have to steal this election like they stole the last one.

The ads warn (or boast) that if you have an erection lasting more than fours hours, then you should seek medical help. I don't know what kind of Viagra or Angel Dust that they are smoking over at the Pentagon but the four hours is almost up. The flag draped coffins keep appearing. This week a beloved athlete ran the horizontal touchdown. America is starting to ask the wrong questions, like "Why are we persisting with this hard-on when Saddam is gone and there are no weapons of mass destruction and it's costing us a hundred billion a year plus American lives to install a government that is probably doomed to failure?"

While our armies are surrounding Fallujah, dug in waiting to be resupplied with Viagra, Wolfowitz is in front of Congress trying to crawdad on the administration's position of granting sovereignty by June 30th. Now it's not 'sovereignty' exactly, it's 'limited sovereignty.' This basically means that nothing will change but the terminology. Our military will still be there, we will still be pouring billions into the country for 'reconstruction,' and the population will still be wanting the invaders OUT. More will die.

As I write there are renegade Pakistani scientists and Moslem clerics in secret mobile laboratories manufacturing weapons of mass erection. Soon there will be thousands of terrorist cells high on Cialis and looking to dip their wicks into the bum of the infidel. In layman's terms, we are creating terrorists much faster than we are eliminating them.

The Poet's Eye sees that we may succeed in making a united, sovereign country out of Iraq but it will only be because we have given them a common enemy against which to fight. And no amount of Viagra will keep the American public erect to the cause as they continue to see their sons and daughters come home under flags.

held an erection
and nobody came?
