Re: Megan Kelly can go fuck herself by JojofromJerz
It's a cult. And cults are baffling by nature, because the cult leader is infallible and can do no wrong--by definition! That, and 30+ years of so many right-wing talking heads with their right-wing talk shows and right-wing talking points, repeated ad nauseam, like an endless campaign of saturation...

Re: Megan Kelly can go fuck herself by JojofromJerz
Doreen: I'm glad to hear that. It's certainly what I expected. All I'm saying is that it needs to translate a little more to the polls, especially in federal elections every two years. and ESPECIALLY in presidential elections. I mean, pushback on Roe kind of had an effect on the 2022 midterms, helpi...

Re: Megan Kelly can go fuck herself by JojofromJerz
Well, you know, I agree with most everything said in this thread, but I'm also concerned by how many people sat out the '24 election. We all need to make sure to get out and vote against this excrement. Especially women! Where is the collective outrage? The backlash? I mean, Roe was overturned more ...

Re: In My Little "Liberal Bubble" I Guess
My dear sister accused me last year of being in a "liberal bubble." That is hard for me to take, mostly because I don't know what it means. Can anyone help me on this? And don't reply with the usual complaints about "welfare queens" and crime in general.

In my little "Liberal Bubble"
I once imagined the best
of human nature winning.
What I got instead was
greed and Bible verses
and finger pointing.

Re: Woke
I think HST wasn't far from the truth about "the American dream," but there was no way that "Fear and Loathing" (in Vegas) was ever going to fully translate to the big screen. You had to read the book.

And now listening to my other favorite blast from the past song, "Ghost Town" by the Specials. THE song that first made me want to play bass guitar.
Re: Woke
I admit I didn't read the link, but I love the phrase "tyranny of words." A surprisingly big problem

Re: One Nation Under a Groove
And I still like the message. At this point, all of this talk I've heard recently about another "civil war" is just that, just talk. Neighbors don't really talk to each other in that way. It's manufactured by unnecessarily tribal political factions. Wake up!

I always liked "Well, the conversation kind of dried up, ma'am ..." (in response to "You were only supposed to talk to him, why did you have to kill him? ..."), from The Undefeated.

Bold Talk for a One-Eyed Fat Man
I like John Wayne movies.
What they meant, not sure.
Time will tell, but I liked that
line from True Grit, even
both versions of it.

Re: Enough, already
The disturbing thing is, half the population of the former United States thinks this is exactly what needed to happen. I agree, lace up the boots, but not like that.
