Well, if someone happened to watch me pass, sitting at less than the speed of light... Ah well, the whole thing's a bit silly.
And one of my other favorites: "You can't have everything. Where would you put it?"...

I Really Like a Steven Wright Joke I Heard Years Ago
"If you were driving at the speed of light
and you turned on your headlights,
would they do anything?"
I wish I could make
a poem out of that.

Re: Remember Rock Music?
And in our heads. I had the Doors' LA Woman stuck in my head yesterday. Not sure why it took me so long to figure out that it's metaphorical-- a song about LA as a "woman." Then I read somewhere that the "Mr Mojo Risin" bit near the end is an anagram of "Jim Morrison" ... Huh, ok ...

Re: Make America Great Again
Fuck the idea that we need to "make America great again." How much "greater" than we were just a few years ago do we need to be, exactly?

Where is rock music now?
Has it finally been beaten down
by the terminal police forces
in our so-called governments?

Re: Happy 96th Birthday to Gary Snyder (May 8, 1930)
Yes ... I had a chance to go see him at a bookstore about 20 years ago. I wish I'd gone. I don't think he does those sort of events anymore.

Re: Spirit Mountain
Btw I have no ingrained "hatred" of anyone as I keep reading on message boards, even if I live on the so-called hopelessly "Liberal" and "anti-American" west coast of the US. I'm certainly not the vilified "global elite," as too often associated, who tend to live on both the east and west coasts and...

Nice. I don't think I ever would've guessed that one just from the clue.

Re: Spirit Mountain
I mean, beyond the obvious "Smart" phone attached to everyone's hand (as if surgically), there have been plenty of warning signs, starting with the "how big is your Screen" movement in the '80s, even long before the horrible wonderful internet. When Screens in cars started getting so big that they p...

Re: Spirit Mountain
Thanks Steve. What an amazing time that must've been. Most of us, including, yes, myself at times (too often), are losing touch with the natural world, and are being assimilated into a creeping glaze of a virtual digital world. It's kind of shocking, the change(s) in just 2 decades. In 2005-06, when...

Re: Spirit Mountain
I wrote this some time ago,
after I'd been in the desert a while.
It's a (too thinly veiled?) protest
against mines interrupting my
road, even way out there.
Btw, there really is a Spirit Mountain
in the desert, south of Searchlight,
Nevada.

Spirit Mountain
Spirit Mountain, over the desert. Spirit Mountain, the sacred rise. Nothing is sacred. Everything measured. Digits to the cent. Claimed. Maimed. Scooped. Scraped. I went to see the mountain, past pickets and thickets, and big guts muttering. "Those dam hippies." I reached the sacred mount. It was fe...

Re: Holy Place
I've seen,
heard, felt,
holy moments
on hillsides,
mountainsides,
like wind through
creaking pines,
(a sound like a river),
like the cactus wren
on her saguaro perch,
who let me approach her,
like holy ringing silence
out in the big empty.

Desert Solitaire, definitely recommended. (Though honestly, he was kind of a jerk.)
