"Those blessed cavorting dreams
dancing to the rhythm of silence..."

Love that. Yes, who indeed elected the governor of meanings?...

The Growing Heap of Political Rubble

Trump is a fossil, Clinton too.
On the take, all truths are fake.
Bush bombed a cradle of civilization.
Barack did as well; he just didn't tell.

If we don't who will? We get a nice jolt, this tiny window on eternity and energy no doubt..

The Photographer Who Captured America’s Dark Side-- Robert Frank

https://getpocket.com/explore/item/the-photographer-who-captured-america-s-dark-side?utm_source=pocket-newtab It hadn’t been easy. Frank had driven more than 10,000 miles to capture those photos. Along the way, he used 767 rolls of film, filled uncountable tanks of
gas, and endured two stints in ja...

Well done. Strange how the unknown non-human (once confirmed as such) was much less threatening than the unknown human. One wonders how this story ends... How would either of them know where to go? What was Collins' true nature?...

Beige Hole vs. the Rust Belt

I went back into the great arcs. The curvaceous Mojave world. But Vegas soon interrupted my road again, and it was different than before, with row after row of unfinished and abandoned houses, whistling dry wind, leftover from the big boom years ... Flung burbs had fallen on hard times, into a sort ...

Re: Who Agreed to a Five Day Work Week?

The real divide is Public vs. Private IMO. Both the "Right" and the "Left" are heavily in bed with private sector Corporatism, which elects and controls a great deal of our federal government-- it's just a matter of degree. Hard line Corporatists and Privatizationists might go so far as to say: " Ye...

Re: I D 5 ( an ode to no more stuff )

True. I've come around, over the years, to the same basic outlook. Not that "stuff" is bad; life is a balancing act in general, and "material" vs. "spiritual" is no different. I think you just narrow your focus a bit more as you go; what things matter, and what things don't, as much, anymore-- so yo...

Wow, even the car? Going for the complete clean break, I'm guessing..

"grouper sandwich with a side of black beans and plantains.." is poetry in itself.

Well he had all the answers, and the right face of grizzled desert-baked self-determined American invincibility didn't hurt either, and he had a quick (enough) gun and an infallible sense of justice, so what was not to like?

Re: Back in My Road Days

Thanks Cec. Appreciate the observations and comments. The sheer distance-- hundreds/thousands of miles-- from my "Dark City" to the desert meant I had to submit to some degree of "motion mania" in order to get there and back in whatever limited "free time" I could scrape together. So I had to "make ...

Re: Who Agreed to a Five Day Work Week?

I know that the enlightened ones among us harbor no regrets-- regrets are useless negative energy. True enough. But this will end up being one of my biggest regrets-- all that time I spent sitting in a friggin office.

40 hours might have been a "good deal" way back when, but we still got boned..
