Re: Mystery of the Moving Rocks

Desert Solitaire, definitely recommended. (Though honestly, he was kind of a jerk.)

Re: Birthday Greetings!

Hey Raymond. Happy birthday. No big point or statement here, just well wishes. And this reminds me of something that has always mystified me: how (exactly?) do you translate poetry between languages? That was something hard to wrap my brain around, I guess

Mystery of the Moving Rocks

I found moving rocks on a dry lake. Rocks that moved in the past. They had smudged trails. Maybe I saw them in a dream. I met Ed Abbey's ghost sitting on a rock. It had a smudged trail behind. No, they were real. Scientists obsessed over them. No one had ever seen them move. Silly obsession. It was ...

Re: Remember Rock Music?

Oh, I get like this sometimes. Thinking that things fit into grandiose socio-political cause-effect patterns. Stateside and in the UK in particular, after two World Wars, Korea, and the Vietnam tragedy and draft, there was a real rejection of what seemed a dangerously accelerated extension of the sa...

Remember Rock Music?

Rock music had a rebellion until no longer relevant. Life does that. It ripped off the blues and did shows and choked on its vomit, oh the drugs. Obviously it couldn't last. Oh the drink and drugs. Then synthesizers took over in the Year of Our Lord 1980s, yet yhe whole thing was still on trial afte...

Re: In the Beginning Was Dub Reggae

Thanks Doreen. It's a shortened version of part of a long rambling "prose poem" (?) I wrote years ago.

This is the "turned up loud" side of the dub pulse. There is also a "turned down low" side, where reverb and echo seem to ripple out across the land. Either way, it fills an expanse.

Re: The Meaningless Conversation

"Politics" has been turned into some sort of Circus. Some sort of bizarre Tribal War, driven by disinformation and demonization. Divide and Conquer by the powers that be. Ultimately, toxic pathology.

In the Beginning Was Dub Reggae

In the beginning, rock, and vibrations of rock. A time riddle, infinite middle. The word was dub; word was with dub. The monster massive slowed down low. Reverb careening down the valley. The roots man on a big beat earth. The big dog woofer grumbling. Psalms of the heavy rumbling in holy rolling bo...

Re: RIP Cecil Lee — author of Sunday Streams

It's difficult to know just how to reach out, for sure. Hopefully, family support is strong.

Actually, I just remembered, that discussion about spirit animals (called totems) happened here on S-8 years ago. On Hester's (retired) Mystic Arts Artlog.

Re: RIP Cecil Lee — author of Sunday Streams

I actually made it down to their place 4 times- 2004, 2005, 2014 and 2017. On my second visit we talked about spirit animals, a Native American idea that has been criticized as "cultural appropriation," yet it kind of fascinates me. I told how when I was 6 years old a crow walked behind me and follo...
