Drought in the Desert

Drought in the desert.
I heard someone on the radio
claim it as I drove thru
the desert years ago.

There's not enough water!
And I still wonder now, like I
wondered then, if it was
pure human conceit.

Re: Radio8 — do you remember it?

Absolutely. This is remembrance and rediscovery. It's hard for me to articulate the full extent of what Litkicks meant to me after I happened onto it 22 years ago after googling Jack Kerouac on the then still-kinda-new internet, and I knew right away that I had to join the place and try to hold my o...

"Intellectual chauvinism."
I think that's worth considering.

Make America Great Again.

So, when wasn't it great?
What are you trying to sell?

Re: I'll just call her K.

Sex and life are two different things, though intertwined and damn near impossible to tell the difference at times. Sometimes they leave physical reminders of our good places visited.

Steve man, and winddance, that's better than telling them "I'm not interested" I suppose.

Re: My Virginia Roots

"Carte before your blanche." Love that. I think I might steal, er, borrow, that one ... On a tangentially related note, I once had a red tailed hawk swoop down on me in the California desert. Came down within ten feet. I could see a little swoosh mark on his belly.

Re: Radio8 — do you remember it?

Amazing stuff. I had the pleasure and privilege of seeing Theda sing on a live radio broadcast in Astoria, OR at the local radio station in the summer of 2004. There were little kids dancing in the studio as she sang. I also met Jim Furnish on that trip. Seven months later, I visited Theda's place a...

Re: places my memory takes me back to that no longer exist

So true. About the closest I can come is returning to remote desert places--but even some of those places are unrecognizable at times. The last 2 times I returned to the Black Rock Desert, it was choked by dust raised by vehicles tearing up the dry lake playa. Reminds me of a video I saw of people t...

I'm pretty sure that God would want us to err on the side of respecting His creation.

These are my greatest concerns too. Free and fair elections. And furthermore ... ABIDING by the results and not trying to overturn them. (And we know which party has been guilty of that.)

I always wanted to read Levi's, er, I mean, Marc's book on Ayn Rand. I wonder if I can still get it.

Re: If You View the World Thru a Political Lens

I am so G-D sick of EVERYTHING being turned into a political argument. Literally just about EVERYTHING being turned into an infantile "Left" vs "Right" pissing match. It's so asinine. Life doesn't work that way. Not really.
