It Might Boil Down To

It might boil down to
not just the message
or collection of ideas,
but who can state them
clearly and deliver, and
our current leader is
struggling with that, but
then we all struggle
at times.

Re: “They’ll get over it,” he said

I respect all of the literary giants and geniuses, but I confess that sometimes I wish they'd get to the point. And yes, that includes you Mark Twain.

Re: deep blue affection

She is definitely missed. Affection. And deep blue disappointment in this world of ours as well, growing more deeply rooted in me, unfortunately.

Re: “They’ll get over it,” he said

His writing really blew me away. If he wrote stuff like that in "Portrait," I can't imagine trying to get through "Finnegan's Wake". It was truly disturbing. And baffling.

Re: I've Polled the Peasants

Yes, "Christian" End-Timers are hanging around waiting for the next Middle Eastern war to ignite and justify their (prophecy-based) beliefs that the Big War is coming to finally set in motion the return of Jesus. I've been reading it in comment sections lately. I read it 20 years ago after George W ...

Re: “They’ll get over it,” he said

"Hell" is powerful. In church when I was young, "hell" scared the the hell outta me. Then I picked up a copy of James Joyce's "Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man" from a sidewalk two weeks ago and turned to a random page, where James was describing "hell," and oh my goodness his take was 2 pages ...

Re: I've Polled the Peasants

"Part of the Plan." Well at least some of the current-day "Christian" followers have decided that they've had enough of "foreigners," or wait, just "illegal foreigners," and there must be some sort of horrific Big War to eliminate a third of the world's population before Jesus can return. I actually...

I've Polled the Peasants

I've polled the Peasants
and yes they're fine with
all these wars and being
bombed and conscripted
as long as the right side
wins

And all these God Wars
lately? Well, that was
part of the plan

Re: dancing plagues and neo-nuttiness

Yes, the former United States. Well maybe there's some good to come outta all this (sponsored and manufactured) anger and warring among our "united" selves, all of this divide and conquer politicism at the expense of, well ... us.

Re: Pope Leo XIV

This may sound abrupt and harsh, but I have a hard time with Xtianity in general-- you gotta do this and that or else you're not "saved." What I CAN get behind are the words and deeds of Jesus as told in the N.T. As for the Catholic Church, its built-up power structure has invited abuse through the ...

Yes, that seems right. I first ran across "dragoon" when I visited mountains called the Dragoon Mountains in southeastern Arizona. Where Cochise had his stronghold.
