wow... this story is just heartbreaking, clay. and beautifully and sorrowfully written. (is sorrowfully a word?) ...i don't write enough these days, damnit. i am sorry and sad to hear that you were familiar with karl. i haven't experienced something so brutal, so close to home. hugs to you. i think ...

...yep, and i also admire when someone's rolled a crummy spliff and all those lame little little chunky black sooty bits keep whooshing through all over your teeth and gums, but like a real man you stay until the job is done, before swishing off with water. for chronic effect, you proudly smile at y...

dude! victoria's my city! (but now i'm in the caribbean on a ship) if you wanna meet laid back hip locals, live supa-cheap, and get the most out of your stay, i recommend going and hanging out at a few of the following spots: 1) market square - meet some of the footbaggers. they'll give you the best...

i'm all for it... i love pets and completely dig it when i see pets as part of the personality of a retail store or an office. so long as prospective employees know what they're getting into, i think pets add character and innocence and love to any environment.

YOUCH! You know where to hit a guy where it hurts... For the love of god (if he's yer thing), PUH-LEEZE never make even remote comparisons between me and Glenn Beck! That's just low, low, low! Fer the record, Clay, your piece on Yawnbenet Ramsey was bang-on. I'm just so bloody sick of hearing about ...

for the record, and to submit MY two bits: i LOVE my dell. i bought a dell powerhouse laptop in summer '04 cuz i'm always on the go, and it's still the bomb, two years later. it never crashes, it looks great, and it performs like a dream. however, i will truly admit that i'm on the ropes with the ma...

hey gang, i work on cruise ships, so i don't have access to 150 channels on my tv. it doesn't really matter to me, because i've actually never been interested in television; even when i'm in a situation with a million channel options, i rarely turn it on to anything except nerd stuff, like discovery...

yes lr, right of course, it's all so worthless and trite in the big scheme of things. however, you only add to it. i love your writing as usual, but i hate it when you contribute to these kinds of stories. by doing a piece on how ridiculous it is that the media spends so much time hyping stupid thin...

aces and eights

and d'ya know WHY they call aces and eights "dead man's hand"?

it's cuz that's the hand that wild bill hickock was holding when he was shot! whooohoo!

fitting imagery, considering george bush thinks he's a cowboy in the old west, and the big corporations are his six shooters.

Excellent

Thanks Clay - My favourite one for a while - It really echoed how I've felt about all of this craziness. During 9/11, I was working on a ship, selling art and also running the internet cafe, so when the planes struck, I was asked to put the bigscreen TV on International CNN, and open up the internet...

cool lr,

some good points. hey, something that i saw earlier today on CNN really bugged me: there was some follow up report on the tsunami.. - remember? the biggest natural disaster of our entire modern world? well they said all triumphantly and proudly that the governments and aid agencies of the world rais...

devil's advocate...

well, lr, i typically tend to agree with your rants. in this case, i am especially in league, as i grow sooo tired of public fiascos such as the jackson trial. however, much of the tone in your piece, as well as many other pieces you write on what's happening in pop culture or mainstream media, is c...
