Re: Brain Storm

Sasha, first it sounds to this layman like you made an amazing recovery. Peripheral vision loss but mobility regained. Also comforting is your dog’s love. You really took me into your experience like I was there going through it. At first I was hoping this was fiction. But quickly I realized it was ...

Re: Wrestling in the Metropolitan

Glad you read this when you did because the final edit wasn’t completed until yesterday. There were quite a few glitches until then. I thank you for your keen observations and especially for your appreciation of the screenplay potential here. Also grateful for your pointer about Kevorkian. I vaguely...

Wrestling in the Metropolitan

Wrestling in the Metropolitan My wife follows me around the dispensary to gather her food. She says, “In case you’re wondering, my black eye is a badge of honor for our lordship on high. A woman insulted our king of kings by heaping criticism upon our system of rational governance created for our be...

That is priceless. You took it and voila it appeared for her when you replaced it. A successful covert operation. :)

Re: Samaritan

Sasha had you not told me you see it as a misfire I'd have never guessed. Your story worked for me big time. Really enjoyed it. You built the suspense with all the subtle emotions and apprehension on the part of the protagonist down to a tee. Really fine work my friend.

Re: The Story of the Three Sisters

This was part of a series of ancient myths I reinterpreted for modern times. This one was loosely based on a tale from the Arabian Nights book. Though I reinvented the plot, characters, and setting. Thank you for your perceptive comparison to King Lear and fairy tales. Your comment is very much appr...

Re: Samaritan

Sasha, truly suspenseful unfolding of this interaction. How Collins finally learns to trust John without concrete proof but through things coming together as you so brilliantly bring the threads into enough for his faith. Loved the nuances of Collin’s trepidation with their resolution. Quite a tale ...

Re: Rendering unto Caesar, part XIV

You write your mother’s tax problems with the drama of an epic tale my friend. And like a Homeric story Odysseus, in this case you, rises back into the light at the end. Truly and engaging tale gripping and with a grand resolution at the end. Your story had me empathizing with you the protagonist wh...

Re: Lioness of the Desert

Indeed I heard rumors of a black panther roaming the bayous of my hometown in Natchez, Mississippi when I was a child. Just because the forestry service won't confirm these sightings doesn't mean they didn't happen. Forest rangers can't observe all of what goes on in your southwestern New Hampshire ...

Lioness of the Desert

Lioness of the Desert Over breakfast, I break some news for Marsha. “Hey let’s try this on for size. Marsha, I want to take you out into the deep desert. Maybe we’ll see some sandworms like in the Dune books.” She says, “You’re so crazy, but truly we could come home and find our balcony egged or dra...

Same with me my friend. I constantly gaze out the window on a plane. But being on top of the outdoor deck of our state capitol here in Louisiana gives me the heebee geebies.

Climbing ladders can be a challenge to one's tolerance of heights. I haven't done it in over a decade. Thanks for sharing my friend. :)

On the Road to Betrothal

On the Road to Betrothal They follow the ragged brow of the Hopi reservation to the ancient Pueblo of Walpi perched on its wrinkle. Atop the mesa, they sit in a room with a sandy floor with the other tourists. The timbers shake in the wind-driven sand of April. The Native guide, with his long hair, ...
