when you look around
you can't miss the destruction
that a handful of heartless egomaniacs
have instigated in a small amount of time

but folks still sing happy birthday
and mow their lawns and pick veggies
from their gardens, still go to the movies
and to see live musicals, and dance at parties ...

an empty easel lurks in a dark corner
candlelight too low to see the artist's eyes
seeds of creation sparkle for him, each
twinkle stimulates a new angle
ceremonial candles burn with imagination
through a thick empty glass, a lonely bottle

slowly I turn
step by step
I'm moving a little better
and dreaming
more than usual
about things like running
and jumping
youthful things
I think to myself
keep it up
jam the jam
step by step inch by inch
a little is better
than nada
fingers and toes crossed
mind supple and willing

the honking of geese
eyes to the sky involuntarily

this is a simple 1 hour painting I did for my youngest son and daughter-in-law to commemorate their 5th wedding anniversary.......they renewed their vows with a grand party

death superstitiously comes in threes.....Tim Curry, Dolly Parton, Wendell Berry.......all great losses for mankind

migration is underway
songbirds, waterfowl, raptors
some for very long distances
snow geese and ospreys
sandhill cranes
I'm migrating too in a sense
I plan to rejoin my duckpin bowling team
tomorrow the league gets underway
