the sun
that big ball of wide-eyed fire
sits on the horizon
not caring that cars, planes, motorboats
ride directly into its blinding light
it is as if the darkness needs
a little help in creating blindness.
the sun doesn't mind.

Re: your blade - my blood
I can't equal mingo's response so I won't try, but I did want to say this poem got my attention. The title is a little gem in itself. And throughout phrases like "the bones of structural ideals" and deafened by the slaughter-cries of cheetahs wrangling with the reductionary forces of power. grab my ...

Are You Nuts?
I want liberated, unadulterated, spontaneous happiness like the thrill of scoring a winning touchdown I want to forget the analysis of happiness or dancing or singing and just to move my feet, tongue, arms sway my body like the late Joe Cocker I want eccentric happiness and not care who sees the joy...

The Title Of My Life
the title of my life? another acorn or a comfy chair, glass of wine Annie Lennox singing Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This or Turquoise or drumsticks clattering, chattering or sunlight massaging the green of spring or a wrestle with Reason or the bubble of water awaiting coffee or the Indiscretion of Po...

Doreen's and Sasha's poems here do strike a nerve though my kids haven't been teenagers or young 20's for at least two decades.

Prose Poem---Two Forces in the Human Universe
poetry is the one venture in the world that is independent of money. It is like fire, a spontaneous combustion. It lights, it warms, it ravages, it dances, it vanishes into smoke. Perhaps money is like that too, but poetry is the reaction of different elements. Its chemistry can not be hoarded like ...
Re: Money
The way the stock market is going our money is shriveling up as we stare at it. It is beginning to roll around our palms in a wider and wider orbit, like the moon around the earth, but it is leaving our influence much more rapidly. It will fall out of our hands and disappear into interstellar space,...

I like it. Hydrogen is the beginning of matter as we know it. And matter/energy is creation.

Re: if you remember the 60's you weren't there
I got the info on the novel----some of the prices are steep but----I hope you get some of the money. There is a copy that seems reasonably priced. I'll bookmark it and hope to order it some weeks down the road.

(after commenting on a number of very, very interesting poems this morning, I don't know whether I have anything left in the tank, but will give it a try anyway.) the world is an old fat lady stripping in Times Square opening her arms for one more act of love before her heart bursts the grief fallin...

Re: consideration for my neighbors
Excellent. And this is unified from top to bottom. No tangents. I like so much----I can't quote anything because I'd just reproduce the poem. Even seemingly throw way lines like shit, i can barely keep my own train on the tracks fit in beautifully. These words are just the right colloquial note. I ha...
