Over the years between 1990 and his death, Pop used emoticons in personal emails. I know. He asked me what the colon, dash and closed paren meant. So, I taught him what emoticons were. No, he didn't use them. I never claimed to be a writer, much less a poet. So, I do use them when a personal reaction happens to me in the course of this type of communication.
