Huh, that's funny. I wonder what I did wrong. Anyway, the URL is http://www.indie-rpgs.com Their archives include 3 forums of theoretical discussion (each of them containing a HUGE amount of content), and numerous closed Developer's Forums, which are forums opened up for developers of indie roleplay...

You wanna see a long board? The Forge is a long board, but totally committed to preserving every bit of it. Are large boards intimidating to newcomers? Maybe. Probably, even. But as long as the boards that newcomers need to find a point of entry (Creative Writing and General Discussions) are ...

Thanks! I can see where you're getting the Indian/Middle-Eastern thing. I used a scale that includes intervals that aren't found in Western popular music (including bluegrass) outside of certain breeds of heavy metal. These particular intervals produce a dark and mysterious tone, which is why I used...

Neverwood Breakdown

This is a sort of dark bluegrass thing. So, it's blackgrass.

Crow: a poetry game

This: http://games.spaceanddeath.com/sin_aesthetics/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/crow.pdf Is a game called Crow that is inspired from Ted Hughes' "Crow" poems. It's by Mo, who is part of the indie RPG scene that I've been involved in for the past year. The game looks pretty darn cool, and I figured yo...

I picked Confidence, but it's tough. Here's the qualities that are most important to me in a woman: Poise, aplomb, panache, and nerve (which is why I picked Confidence) Hipness. If you know what I'm talking about when I talk about artists, musicians, books, etc., I probably already want you. Some "s...

That's what I'm saying, Izzy; it's cool until you find out the hard way that it isn't.

Cool is, after all, entirely a matter of perception. It has no objectivity.

Arcadia, Believe it or not, but those rules are actually really really short for this kind of game (it's a roleplaying game, even though I deliberately never mention it in the rules). Doreen, Thanks! I don't think I'm going to sell this one, though. It's not a serious game, unlike T...

OBLITERATI: the unspeakable horror of the literary life

This is a game that you can play with 3 to 5 people if you've got a few hours. All you need are some dice to roll or coins to flip, and enough pencils and paper to go 'round. That, and your imaginations. 1. WHAT THE GAME IS ABOUT All the players take on the roles of made-up famous novelists. Let’s a...

Where should I put this?

I got this little game I designed that I think folks 'round here would like. I'd like to post the rules for it, but I can't decide which of the fora I should put it in. That's probably not a big deal, but I'm not comfortable with putting it somewhere inappropriate :)

The psychological part is definitely the hard part.
'Cause smoking a cigarette can be so many things. A ritual, a symbolic act, a reward, a punishment, a carrot and a stick, a crutch, a refuge, an anchor.

A lot of people look at me funny when I tell them it's the ACT of smoking that's got me; they think I'm really just a nicotine freak and in denial. Obviously, they don't understand the pleasure in burning a thing, consuming it in flame , breathing the smoke , feeling it burn a bit in the back of you...
