all the unlived lives
unborn children
unfulfilled dreams

all the poems, never written
songs, never sung

cut off

war is a tourniquet
on the throbbing artery
of our pulse

cutting off all supply
of hope

I'll remember until I die, this:

brisk winter walk,
a stark child's grave

dark bed in packed snow

reveals the sleeping place
of the angelic face
preserved now in grace

as if the earth herself
melts frost with warm tears

i see red
bleeding myoptically
into dazzling rainbows
reflecting prisms,
dancing from grains of sand

microscopic gems
glittering sun's image
into minds eye
blinding moments
of clarity, sifting depths
