new day excitement
whatever may be
i’m here for it

that lovely being
sometimes rediscovered
awakens the heart

bird of paradise
beside the armadillo
emerging friendship

intense heat wave
peanut crop roasts in fields
feast invitation

i like that people find themselves writing poetry.
Could be for that person, poetry is a contest. An open-ended, or never-ending kind of contest.

dark morning walk
the early risers
share discretion

morning rituals
water, coffee, hug, haiku
exercise, meditation

sitting in silence
ready to greet a haiku
but no hurry

crackle of gravel
another club car passes
dog’s minimal bark

youngest daughter
alive and flourishing
gifts her presence

silky air
as i slide into september
fearless and calm

thank you neighbor dog
guarding our kibbutz pathway
while we sleep

navigating dreams
mind and body reach safety
to rest with coffee

this day a window
fresh air and new chances
eager to meet us

last day of 60’s
weather fine health and mind
ready and willing
