Re: Observations before the departure

What a beautiful poem. Love the apprehension of the narrator...waiting, bags packed. Waiting. I almost get a chill. Reminds me of "Our Town" when George is talking to Emily (who is dead) but in plain view of the audience. We know she is dead. George knows she is dead. Emily knows she is dead, but th...

Re: The truth behind it all

Thanks for your reply and explanation. Yes, I can see that "you" are the sin. My comment was directed at the action of the sin.

I like this even more.

Re: You can never really know anybody.

My posts were not meant to be demeaning to you or your poetry. Was playing off the word "anybody" and carried it in a free style, care free. When one talks of "anybody" and "you"…it includes all. Even me.

I respect your stuff. Of course, I do. Respectfully,

Re: You can never really know anybody.

since when has anybody made sense? And how would you really know that if you don't know anybody? life isn't that simple and you know it anybody or anyone is indefinite without a name used to know could have been or want to be or even what you want that anybody to be when they can't be just anybody t...

Re: You can never really know anybody.

yet still you try, it’s instinctual I tell you, are you listening? Look, even the honkers in the back field know enough to know who the strongest one is and follow, no questions asked you ask anyway and your priest says it’s faith, I say, it’s faith, where is yours when you need it, but baby let me ...

A Halloween Tale

A witch walked
behind me, fell
to make me fall

I fell soft when I fell
hard, walked away
when I lay still

once upon her,
a time

Re: The truth behind it all

Your stuff would sound lovely being read, I would think.

"…a simple sin…" Nice image. Is there such a thing?

Thanks for the poem.

Unused Cemetery

The last sound in
to this uncertain wobble
of earth, even if life
isn't so beautiful,
could be your prayer,

Re: All men are blind

Like the way you include "all" men but are nice enough to concede "...or is it me? Which probably needs a question mark to help me through the thoughts a bit. Your sentiments seem real, not accusatory. "Turn the blind eye toward all the fools and be patient" would be my advice. It ain't ALL of us th...

Re: shut up tight now

"...the way the sky can speak thanksgiving..." This is one great line.

There an entire Liberal Arts education in this poem, complete with History, Literature, and Philosophy. Glad I read it. Thanks for posting it.

Re: This Poem

When I infer that "no one will read" the poem, it's kind of a play on reading "between" the lines...or something like that. There's also a physical "read" to a poem and a psychological "read" to a poem. It may refer to that. Or not. FYI: I don't worry so much about the flight attendant, but the lady...

This Poem

I’m wondering about the woman in the next seat, what she may think if I showed her this poem; after all, we are both in an airplane, flying over southern Minnesota me, off to see my oldest son on Long Island; her, to an island near Vancouver, one she will arrive at on a ferry to spend fours days sta...
