I’m writing flat words
No bounce
To snag a ring
Claim a prize
Writing flat on a computer screen
Everything so tentative
Forgettable
The universe will delete this
Just like it does the most brilliant insight
You don’t think so?
Give it time
Time is a noose
That hangs our greatest vanities

Sorry.
If it is any consolation, you had him to talk to for 94 years. Lots of memories I bet.

Re: The Growing Heap of Political Rubble
Unfortunately these political poems are real truth----unfortunately nothing made up about them.

Fingernails
Fingernails? Emphasize the nails Bloody hands, bloody ankles Anyplace scratched became cut Don’t gouge out your own eyes Even if they see nothing but ghosts And absences The usual hardly noticeable green Of weeds The sky reflected in day old puddles The coffee shop Where you sat Talked things out Wh...

After Defeat By A Sonnet's Form
After A Defeat By A Sonnet’s Form Stymied by words That don’t fit in the puzzle of form Can’t make them march in step The troop motley Some wear slippers Some one boot Some have nice shoes but can’t keep in step And there are words to this song That this one and that one mumble And there are rhymes...

Re: I D 5 ( an ode to no more stuff )
I understand but my main stuff is books----and it is the immateriality of books----the words inside that transport you to every imaginable place that matter. So though a book is a thing, it is also something more. You are right about the maintenance of stuff stealing time.

Re: irreconcilable differences
Very effective poem----that is lame saying that because a lot of emotion in the writing of that poem, and the memory. Very effective description of the scene. Agree about the ending---effective.
I'll have to look for any parts 3 & 4 or more that follow.

Re: Rant Because That Is What We Call It
I have a lot of catching up to do on the poems here. Next week I'll give it a go in between reading Isabel Allende's Island Beneath the Sea. and the Democratic Debates where they kill Election because they slice and dice each other and the only one left standing is the Troll of TV and Twitter.
