Not sure of the why of centering but would love to "hear" this and then it wouldn't matter how it was formatted. I like the two syllable cadence.
"…questions like ignition
starting the mind…" is a nice image.
"why's" and "wise"….nice.

Revelation
During service
yesterday, the sun
threw its light
through
blue and red
stained glass
God whispered
the latest gossip
about my deceased
parents
into my ear
an hour later
enough snow
had fallen
to cover
any signs
of real life.

#15 First, your glasses, there, on the night stand, sandals next to the bed, all your things, really, here and there these past thirty-one years The sweet equilibrium of our lives, all the things we are too shy to speak to each other about; if you are quiet enough, and leave a light on, you can read...

Re: Solstice to New Years Word Jam!
14. The house is closed up again. It is not Monday. It is not daytime. It is raining. The last time you were in the house, you held a Japanese fan in your hand, waved it occasionally like a theatrical gesture. It is not Thursday. It is not Friday. It is raining. As it was the last time you were in t...

Re: waiting for a train
There is an old movie called "The Emperor of the North" with Lee Marvin and Ernest Borgnine. Old 70's flick. It's about trains and the old hobos who used to ride them. Not sure why I remember this one but I do. If you ever get a chance…it's worth it for the train scenes alone. Wrote this a LONG time...

Re: waiting for a train
I grew up in a railroad town. The sounds...the cinders....the fires from hot sparks off the tracks on hot summer days. We waved to the conductors all the time. They waved back. I used to sleep on the front porch from April til it snowed. The rail yard was three blocks away. The sounds of the cars co...

The Other Night
You were talking
from across the room;
I was listening, I swear,
but observed instead,
your right wrist extended,
holding that lovely hand
You could have been
speaking about dinner or
the unopened rye bread
on the white linen
Only our time lacks
understanding of what
this all might mean
from across the room;
I was listening, I swear,
but observed instead,
your right wrist extended,
holding that lovely hand
You could have been
speaking about dinner or
the unopened rye bread
on the white linen
Only our time lacks

Re: Never Reaching the End
Have always had a soft spot in my heart for the poet / lyricist. Like to mess around with song lines sometimes. Thanks for reading and commenting.

Never Reaching the End
I heard she grew up to marry a short glass of milk kind of guy, but back then she was in my arms: pink tulip skin and edible ear lobes; she would rub her curls against my neck, lap small beads of sweat from my shoulder with that precise tip of her tongue; when words failed us, we spoke only in vowel...

Re: Conversations with my drink
We cry in our beer and whine with our wine…why can't we converse w/a tequila. I bartended most of my way through college. I knew a guy who slept w/his Barcardi 151. It was his best friend.
