Re: A One And a Two

Ahh that Lawrence Welk
I used to fantasize about him
imagine
that secretly he tucked a pack of cigarettes in his T-shirt sleeve
listened to 'Satisfaction' by the Rolling Stones
passing his spliff to The Champagne Lady
the two of them just laughing their asses off

Re: ENID'S ANOTHER DAY.

Vivid and chilling. That awful moment when you're suddenly aware, that one person you don't want near is standing right there. I know the feeling well. And it is just another day. Wonderful portrayal. Thank you!

Re: JAM HERE! The Annual Spring Equinox Poetry Jam

I remember a spring
about the year 1990
living in a friend's garage
because we defaulted on the Spanaway house
how blessed I felt on a February morning
having sunshine in the front yard
so when I washed my hair with the garden hose
it didn't feel so bad

wondering if I'm going to end up moving even without a secured job
my management company is all over my ass to either sign another lease or tell them exactly

Re: Articulation

I love this poem, 68. How you describe that your father articulates his presence through a rusty nail. Brilliant. I think the essence of our loved ones is left behind by them, and they give us little reminders in surprising ways.

Enjoyed -- thank you!

Doreen, you didn't fail to understand my 'point'....I failed to make an actual 'point' and that's pretty Ok with me for the time being I just chose the name 'rayburn' because I like it..plus remember Gene Rayburn used to be a game show host -- the headlines I used were not actual ones from The Onion...

I like the signature quote on your profile. Can't agree more. Makes me want to adopt 'Dignity is for chumps' as a motto. Very inspiring.
