this point in history poses an interesting dilemma for citizens that have been lulled to sleep my an endless array of entertainment gizmos.... apathy won't get it done...and given the tanking economy, we're all gonna have a lot of time on our hands....will we get out in the streets, will we go back ...

one lie after another, one crime after the next...in a perfect world
the lot of them would be tried for war crimes....as you point out, these riffs should not be forgotten ...many good lines, mnaz

thanx, mtmynd and mnaz....my intention was twofold with this one..
one...to honor the majesty of trees, the great service they provide,
and the sadness when they are cut indiscriminately.....
and two..the poem as metaphor, to express the dangers of being
closed minded....

perhaps your awareness of the phenomenon will make you better able
to live in the present, a most difficult achievement for our wandering minds that love nostalgia and planning our days....like John Lennon
said..."Life is what happens while your busy making other plans"

a wonderful journey through the memory...
I felt as if were on a magic carpet, sharing the intimacies of the
author....poor New Orleans...she will never be the same....

a most interesting way to describe the amazing powers of rejuvenation, rebirth if you will....give the heart even a slim chance, and it will fool you every time.....its capabilities seem endless...I have seen the kindest expressions in my times of need, from people I never could have believed had it...

is molly a golden retriever, wireman ? love their cosmic personalities...
you paint a very laid back scene...reminded me of Alice's Restaurant...

visually appealing...like a jazzed eye chart....

metaphorically, it could represent the racial tensions that still exist to some degree today, the red...bloodshed

in either case, it works.....

hey mnaz...I've picked myself up from that rippled cosmic gutter numerous times....this is great....a friend sent me a cartoon from the New Yorker the other day, titled Hecklers at a Poetry Reading.... and one audience member is yelling up to the poet on stage, "Hey, you call that a metaphor ?"........

this is wild...put a smile on my face...I was a couple of years older when my friends and I formed our first band...we only played Rolling Stones' songs for the first year......they get an A for effort....nice presentation amongst the cacophony .....the poetry is priceless

thank you Lrod, I was close to mine as well...both very different men,
but in each case, I reference the way they conducted themselves,
what was important to them all the time.....also thanks to westie, mtmynd, and hester, I enjoyed your feedback....
