story challenges
One of my favourite things that we did on LitKicks were the Story Challenges.
I was wondering if anyone would be interested in doing some here
If you never did one on LitKicks, this was how they worked (at least according to my memory):
Someone would come up with a list of elements. For example: a tennishoe, the frozen tundra, the music of Elvis Costello, red paint stains in clothing, whales, a dog named Governor Bennington, and at least two people named Steve.
Then this person posts them in a thread, such as "Story Challenge 03/09"
Now it is the task of the writers accepting the challenge to write a short story that somehow incorporates every element in the list, then post it to the thread. After some duration of time, a week or so I think, the originator of the challenge picks their favourite story and that author is the "winner." Really, it's more like they just become "IT," because they then come up with the next story challenge
I came up with some of my favourite material this way, and I'd love to do this if there's enough people interested
