Bergy Bits

Ok ....so I'm watching the discovery channel....who knows I just might learn something....Topic - Ice bergs and how they are breaking off from Greenland in greater frquency than ever because of SUV's....and then the larger icebergs are giving birth to smaller bergs ...and they begat even smaller bergs....rather ameobic....so the point is that large bergs are easy to detect on radar ....but the smaller ones hide in the swells between waves and ships continue to hit them....these smallest of the bergs are now called bergy bits....somebody call Websters....a new term has been spawned....Just thought I'd share this tid bit about bergy bits with you...

we've been calling them bergy bits since i joined the navy 22 years ago...i suspect its use goes back much further than that...sorry if i disappointed you
