Commentary – 6.17.2018
"The Great Digital Divide" separates us all far more easily than the days of newspapers and magazines. Each of those mediums were offered to the public and what they represented. FB and any other medium on the 'net makes it far too easy to dis' the opposition... the immediacy is so instant, what is put up is available in a second worldwide., hardly enough time to understand it all.
It may only get worst until we learn how to harness that power.

I grew up with TV and the great promise of the "Age of Information." Now I'm not so sure. It's turning out more like dam-burst inundation. Still, I think I'd rather have it than not have it...

yes Virginia there are internet brains

As the internet moves to an A.I.-driven future, many services we use every day could learn to manipulate us in entirely new ways. In that sense, the free internet may further erode our free will.
“a coup on our consciousness; a takeover of the parts of us that we instinctively believe ought to be under our control.” A YouTube algorithm that shows you political propaganda is one thing; a YouTube algorithm that learns to personalize propaganda tailored to your specific psychological profile is another.
