Librarian

Dear librarian
Do you Laugh
Do you bleed
i know you at least read

why do you seem so mad to me
is this not, librarian, where you want to be

tell me of your ambitions
tell me of your dreams

librarian, are you a libertarian?
You look like a shaggy liberal
but you act like a staunch conservative

dear librarian i am not much of a poet
i can't spell so good either
buit i'm bored, i saw you
librarian, i'd like to communicate

a lot of people judge you
and that certainly isn't fair
you are not a dragon
this is not your laire

Do you listen to Warren Zevon
or a drummer named Levon?

would you judge my misspelling
or would you smile and not care?

where do you go when you go home
and what would you rather be doing?

i actually gave the scribled chicken scrawl version of this to the librarian...i hope he takes it well...i just want to see what he's like...my friends told me they would have found it insulting...i thought it showed care....i want to know whats up with this librarian, but maybe its too truthfull...i don't know.

That's probably one of the most honest and unpretentious poems I've ever read. If I were the librarian, I'd probably laugh. Not a hurtful, humorless laugh. The laugh of glee, at being presented with something so gloriously, ineffably, and ridiculously human.
Even if I were in a bad mood, how could I maintain it after the librarian/libertarian play on words? I'd have to soften up, and I'd probably want a sno-cone or something

Loved it!

Sensitive, real, compassionate, touching another life with words that show empathy and inquisitive thought.

I'm sure the librarian will love it, too. How could he not?

Be sure to let us know how the interaction goes.
I think it's great that you had the guts to offer the poem.
And not shy away in fear -- way to communicate!

if I were that librarian
I would be cleaning my apartment and stocking up on candles

Why don't you clean the house and stock up on candles, Lightning Rod?

How many poems do I need to write you for that?

Oh.

Maybe I should become a librarian.

Would that be inspiring to you?

oh boy look what i've started....

um, he wasn't there but he is there tonight when i go for my meeting, i saw him walking around today while looking for my lost friend, he was just aimlessly walking around campus, picking up stuff and throwing it off to the side....the librarian is middle age, i hope he receives the poem well, but i hope he doesn't clean his house and stock up on candles....its funny everytimne i say something real to a person, esp if there of the opposite sex, people tend to think that means i have a crush on them or something...same happened with my mentor back in N.C people thought i had a crush on him, i was just being honest, which implise a certain amount of closenesss usually only associated with i don't know that kind of relationship i quess..more latter.

heh.... that's great, KiDdo!

When I was your age, I used to write boys poetry, too.....used to work out quite well as I remember.

That's why I couldn't understand why anybody would say that the poem you wrote might make him mad.

Never worked that way for me.

I'm so happy he liked it!

(Oh, and you didn't start anything... I was just kidding around... we have loads of candles in the house and I've realized for quite some time, he's not going to clean up anything and that's alright... LOL!... I mean, it has to be right? He takes out the trash sometimes. That's a good thing. :))

i went with one of my friends to talk to him today....he was kind of busy, says he's into consiousness and sounds really excited to tell me about his thoughts, though he says he's not generally a very social person, tommorow i'm meeting him for his walk....he is often seen walking around campus....i should tell him about consiousness and sweeping floors.
