Thank you Doreen for Perimeters!!!

Post by M_Mehdi » December 19th, 2005, 11:09 am

Hi,

Just wanted to say.. i just got Doreen Peri's CD Perimeters and am loving it!

The free flow piano is perfect i love to hear folks channel like this... and the poetry is just blowing me away! You have a great spoken and singing voice... The flute playing (i believe this is Lightning Rod) adds such the perfect touch... i'm just really diggin the whole of it!

inside the jacket you said:

"I have no clue what I'm doing other than the fact that I'm doing exactly what I love and I need to keep doing it or I will die."

i believe many like myself can relate to this! thanks again for sending this CD! i look forward to hear more...

btw... what a great site you guys have here...

peace...

Whoa...! Good timing, Medhi. I was about to give thanks to Dor' for the same thing.

An excellent aural experience thru the musical mind of Peri and Co... touching all the bases with an overlay of originality that would bring a smile to any listener, this CD is a must-listen!

"Cabardio Rag", the opener, was a fun ditty that was danced by a friend of ours on her first listening with a Charlie Chaplin-style that fit perfectly with the tune. "Nothing New" was definitely new and a polished poem that was a delight to hear... your (Dor') voice quelling the waves of temperment that succumbed to a finality of belief in your reading.

Sixteen tracks, many partnered with L'Rod on his magical flute, postioning the sounds over her shoulders in a carress that embellished the drama of wonderment... a recommended CD that should find itself in the audio libraries of any fan of originality.

(Thank you, Doreen and L'Rod!)

Hi M!
Good to see you here! Thanks so much for asking for one and for stopping by to post this. :) I am so glad you're enjoying it! Your words honor me! I knew somebody would identify with those words. I so much enjoyed listening to the piece of yours you linked to on the other site. Could you share that link again here when you get a chance? Thanks again, kind sir! (and yes, that was Lightning Rod's flute accompaniment. If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't have done this project at all.) Thanks also for your kind words about the site. Hope to see you stop in again and participate here! Also, there's a Music forum and an Announcements forum if you'd like to share info about and promote Out Records.

I'm so happy to hear you and SooZ received yours and are enjoying it! I'd love to see that Charlie Chaplin dance! ;) That tune is the theme song for our Cabaradio shows. I play it at the beginning of the show and the close of the show. Last show, LR accompanied me on flute and we had 2 guitarists playing the tune with us, too.. (Rene Lawrence and Dan Degrato... Rene co-wrote "Blue World" with LR, btw. On some of the CD cover booklets, his name isn't appearing but the credit has been corrected now). Your comments here are greatly appreciated! Thank you so much! Your review is poetry!

What a wonderful surprise to see these posts this morning! You've both made my day very special.

_______________

To all who have a copy-
I've had 2 people tell me that they couldn't even hear my vocals on "Machines." Any feedback about that would be helpful because I can hear the vocal track fine but if others can't, maybe I need to make some adjustments to it. These are just basement recordings so if the sound quality could be improved, I want to do everything I can to improve it.

To all who don't have one-
I'd be happy to send you the "Perimeters" CD if you email me or pm me your address.

When did this happen? I didn't get the memo.

I would trade a Dream & Shadow Huntsman Group album for it, but the recording of "The Continued Adventures" was discontinued due to various catastrophes. Although I have a handful of recordings surviving that could feasibly be packaged together as a "Kettle Claw Sampler" or something.

However, pretty soon I probably won't be at my current location (have plans to go to Santa Monica for a while, and visit a lovely young lady). I will send an email as soon as I am at an address I will occupy long enough to ensure that I am there to receive the CD

Hey Mars! Good to see ya! I'd love to have another one of your CDs if you want to put some cuts together for your sampler! I love your music... and adore your voice! No trade is required, though. If you don't have one ready now, just send me one when you do... I'd be happy to send you one of mine. Just send a good address when you have one. (Sounds like a fun trip. Santa Monica and a lovely young lady, too? Good going! Enjoy!)

This disc is what I needed. I've been dangerously occupied by writing.... Tonight, I put the pen down, put on "Perimeters", and started to read, and Ima likin' it on both counts.

"Nothing New".... like every woman I've wanted. Your poetic voice is strong, Doreen.

"Beat".... title sums it up. Rocket-ride poetics.

"You Make".... a great recording. The two readings intertwine and play off each other so rhythmically, in the flow, like "synergy". Perfect.

And the free-form piano ties it all together.

Thank you.
