Ahhh, nuts! Hadnt been to S8 in ages and what a news item to catch here on arrival.
Nobody lives forever, though, and he did have a good long and full run at life.
But, still, he'll be missed as he was the grand old man of hip literature for sure.
He was the closest thing the latter half of the American 20th century had to a Mark Twain.
A great man gone, a unique voice now silent, though his thoughts and words will live on as long as there is books and people to read them.

Man, Kurt Vonnegut probably had the greatest influence on my life outside of my parents and Gandhi. And while with most people in the mid-80s you'd expect them to pass on eventually, I just never did with Vonnegut. And it sucks because he got it. He's probably the only one who was currently around who got it and could say it.
and thanks singlemalt. That is probably one of the most beautiful images I've seen.

I was in this great used bookstore 2 days ago and they had an immense amount of Vonnegut's work, and I thought about how people were always telling me to read his stuff. He certainly had a great impact and respect from all I know who have read him. I never got around to reading his stuff yet. I'm gonna go back and take a look at those titles and grab the one that calls me.
