Democracy in a sense depends on civil debate and effective argument. Better heated arguments and dissent--even ugly or obscene dissent-- than a FedNet run by ideologues of left or right. Of course if you don't know what a valid argument consists of (sound premises and correct logical form, at least in deductive terms) then you might not recognize when you are mistaken............................
