Why do you post on the internet superhighway?

Go ahead. Talk about it.

Why do you post on the internet superhighway?

I think it as a stand-up mic or as self-publication. I enjoy having an audience and being on stage.

I think of it as a writing workshop. I post my work to get feedback and critique – input from fellow writers.

None of the above. I can't tell you why. It's top secret. If I told you, I'd have to kill you.

I don't know ... why do I do it?

I do it because it's a way of connecting with who people really are, beneath the skin.

I do it because of the fascinating conflicts and dramas and epiphanies and confessions it evokes in myself and in others.

I do it because otherwise I would be too lonely. I find that one can live for years without ever meeting a friend, but I've found dozens of interesting people and a few friends too, on the internet superhighway.

I do it because it's good practice at writing and communicating.

I do it because I learn a lot this way. Sometimes I expose my ignorance and other people teach me. I like that.

I also do it because I have a very big MOUTH. I can yawp on here for 100s of words, and some poor chump will actually read it, ALL THE WAY THROUGH. That enhances my ego, and this may surprise some of you, but my ego needs all the help it can get!

I don't do it to "publish" my writing. I'm still astounded that people do this.

I don't do it to create a permanent record. The internet is not permanent. I could care less if I lose something I post here -- as a piece of writing, however, I am sad if I lose the opportunity to communicate. That is something different to me, and more important than the words themselves.

I don't do it to win friends and influence people through the usual sycophantic methods. That doesn't happen at this website, but I've noticed it on others and it never fails to amaze me. If I am going to go through a site kissing butts, then I may as well be out in the REAL world, where I can RARELY be myself or tell the truth.

I'm here on this website because Doreen is gradually growing a fairly interesting group of people. It's getting better every day. I like interesting.

I'm on the Other Website, 1) Because some new people showed up there who have some darned good things to say, 2) Various undisclosed reasons, 3) Various reasons I'm not even sure I know myself yet.
