I did read almost every other post here, but one caught my eye. LRod... here is another example of our either strongly agreeing or strongly disagreeing. I think people have a very slim picture of John McCain. They know half of the story, the patriotic half, because in America, all you need to do is wear a flag pin and say "God Bless America" to be vindicated from a multituide of sins. McCain made an anti-American propoganda "confession", signing away his dignity and his so-called patriotism in exchange for a better hospital bed. His defense was "every man has his breaking point." But it seems to me that a "true patriot" would have died before betraying his country in any way, large or small. That, by definition, is what a patriot is supposed to be all about. And then after that whole ordeal, was again given the status of commanding officer in the navy. You would think after that they would use caution. As if that wasn't enough, he was one of the Keating Five, a scandal that should have ended his career but his and his family's influence in the political world proved greater than the damage of the scandal, and, after a brief period of silence, was vindicated, though "midly rebuked for poor judgement". He is a 71 year old with a three-time melanoma diagnosis, and recntly had a skin graft to have the cells tested for the disease again. So, all that being said, do I think that America will elect a septugenarian, fake patriot and skin-cancer patient, the answer is, yes, it's posible. But I hope beyond all hope that we are smarter than that. That the political atmosphere of today will inspire in us the desire for real change. And to borrow from the popular slogan, "change we can believe in." But, to be fair, we have force-fed ourselves 8 years of Bush politics. Twelve if you include his father. And that second election if you really sit down and think about it, was won fair and square. No scandals. No sinister recounts. We voted for him maybe not you and I personally, but the moajority of the American public, and that's all it takes. I have high hopes for Obama. I like him and his politics thus-far. But I know that at heart what he is, is a politician. He could never have soared through the ranks this fast if he wasn't. And even though I have seen his policies work time and again, I know that he, like any other politician has the potential to be disappointing. Like, just to throw a name out there, Nancy Pelosi. But I think we have a better chance at improvement with Obama, and I can only hope that the rest of the country will see it the same way.

p.s Bennie, the whole "a black president?" comment was very disappointing. It's people like you who don't believe in the possibilty of change that cause things to remain prejudiced, one-sided, and WRONG. I do hope you become more optimistic in the future.
sometimes I just like to breathe.

I envy you your youth
the passion of your convictions
I sure would not want to be young again.

Life will go on izzy
I am voting for Obama
but either way life will go on

I betcha I got a breaking point too
Would I spit on the bible
Would I wipe my ass with a prayer shaw

Well a man is just a man
after all that is said and done

Trying to remember the guy
Tyndal, or WIthcliffe
One of the guys that first translated the bible into english

Burned at the stake
they say he never said a fucking word
never cried out
I wasn't there to witness it
that's just what I have heard

Patriotism is not an issue in this election
Is it ever really an issue? Even if it was you aint going to make no converts if you are attacking McCain's patriotism. You are ---could only--- be preaching to the choir about that

Best political speech I ever heard about patriotism was by Peter Falk playing the police commissioner in The Balcony, a movie based on Genet's play

I have said so many stupid things to you izzy
this is just another probably.
I should read the lord's prayer now
father spare me from the temptation
I do not wish to be tested
We don't know what we would have done in McCains situation.

But patriotism is not a real issue, neither are lapel pins, oreo cookies, brittany spears of mom's apple pie.

For me the issue is not even the war any more, nobody gives a shit about the war. Except for a few hundred thousand people who are seeing their children killed in it, there fathers brothers sisters, sons daughters nephews nieces being called up again and again.
I saw one poll that said that the war is only issue to 14 percent of the american people

The real issues now are ecconomic they say
fuck
hard to write without emoticons
but this is wireman's thread and he hates them
so fuck that shit

Like I said above when I was strongly disagreeing with Clay, McCain is going to be a third term for Bush/Chaney. Why the fuck don't the obama people start showing pictures like this in their adds.

Image

Reading this morning george wills
picking at Obama's lack of experience in foreign relations
I bet yo a dollar to a donut
Wills backed Bush in 2000 and 2004
I would like to see Obama's campaign attacking Bush on his foreign policy experience in 2000.

Now bush was sure an experpert at foreign relations
experpert? a combination of pervert and expert? God I love typos.

I don't know what to expect
from the american voter izzy
this is the country that re=elected bush in 2004
just how stupid can we be

THey say the problem Obama faces is that the people who like him the most, the people who would probably most likely vote for him are the people who are not registered to vote.

Like that rascal bennie
Man I betcha he never took the time to go down to the american embassy in Glasgow and register to vote. I never liked that guy anyway. All them young guys piss me off
who do they think they are
walking around with tented pants
