from democracynow.org:
Pope Refuses to Apologize for Saying Conquerors “Purified” Americas
Pope Benedict XVI is refusing to apologize after claiming the Catholic Church purified indigenous peoples during the colonization of the Americas. On Wednesday, the Pope said he would only acknowledge that injustices were committed.

Pope Benedict XVI: "The memories of a glorious past cannot ignore the shadows that accompanied the process of evangelisation of the Latin American continent. It is not possible, in fact, to forget the suffering and injustices that were inflicted on the indigenous peoples, when often their fundamental human rights were trampled upon."
Pope Benedict has come under intense criticism from Latin American leaders, including Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez, who accused him of ignoring a holocaust.
what if the new Pope is really an anti-Catholic agent whose plan is to discredit the moral authority of la Iglesia and to destroy the morale of Catholics? he seems to be a public relation disaster compare to the lovable old Papa John Paul Deux.

angel di Dio...!!! an anti-catholic agent!?... that´s too sofisticated for this Pope, friend, or maybe I´m too stupid!!.
but I have to admitt that Juan Pablo II was very wise in public relations. Even though, an ex-priest friend of mine thinks that he was some kind of retro-grade too. And I have to say that he has great arguments!.
I would be great that the Pope read Mariátegui or Arguedas too.
(well, sorry... I´m an ex-catholic.)
