"These people attacked us before we were in Iraq."

My mind's a blank. I can not remember when Iraq attacked the united states. In 1987 they attacked the USS Stark, but it was all a big mistake and we accepted Iraq's appology because they were our ally at the time.

But I can not for the life of me remember any attack on the US by Iraq. Can anyone? Or is this back to square one. 911 again?

From Bush's press conference yesterday:
Bush dismissed a question about whether he was a "credible messenger" on the war, given the distrust many have expressed about his leadership. "I'm credible because I read the intelligence," he snapped in response to the question, from NBC's David Gregory. "This concept about, well, maybe you know, let us kind of just leave them alone and maybe they'll be all right is naive. These people attacked us before we were in Iraq. They viciously attacked us before we were in Iraq, and they have been attacking us ever since. They are a threat to your children, David."

Oh I think I got it now. He is talking about al-Qaeda. Yes that is why we invaded Iraq. Because we needed to fight al-Qaeda there so we did not have to fight them here.

Al-Qaeda was not in Iraq until we invaded Iraq. So that is why we invaded Iraq so we could fight al-Qaeda there.

Nevermind.

jeez, anything that comes from the president, his press mouthpieces, the state dept. or the militaries is, in my estimation, totally suspect in the credibility department. They've all been caught in enough lies that only the naiivest of citizens can accept what they say without question.

He still has his base.

I don't know how many times I have seen that quote taken out of context.

Apparently he was joking. But even so...

Christian soldiers, is that an oxymoron? :?
