About the Litkicks Book Action Poetry
do not look for a book review here,
but a simple comment
on my copy, scootertrash's inimitable face graces the back cover
why, i ask, is there no autograph?
wondering,
judih

Oh yeah...I'm hot shit in New York City, baby.... A regular Cover Boy...Go ahead...stare at that pic and mentally undress me in your imagination, it's okay, I'm used to it.
Then clutch it tightly to your breast and sigh "ohhh scooter...." as you wander around the desert all gaga love sick and stuff like girls do.
Hey, what can I say, eh? I'm the flavor of the month. I figure if I got it I might as well put it out there.

Of course, Scootertrash would be on the back of the Lit Book. No wonder my gut screamed not to pay attention to it. The front cover was bad enough...
Phony, egotistical, crass juvenile fun!
Yep, thass beat poetry according to Litkicks!
heh.
A real masterpiece it is I'm sure.
(I have to say though, what a waste of a great potential).
sigh

I can see why some would be delighted with the book, especially with you on the back cover Scoot, and I am glad for that! I hope every woman that buys it, undresses you with her eyes and makes love to your picture. Just as you mention!
But I see no connection with you and beat poetry, or any poetry whatsoever.
I never did, and I think I made that obvious all along.
Maybe I give beat poetry too much credit, heh....
Call it my loss if you like but the truth of the matter is,
I think it's wasted potential. Just like I think you are wasted potential too scoot.
Just like litkicks has sadly become.
Viva la difference in opinions right scoot!
smoochies in friendship!

What I found interesting was that Scootertrash was asked not to post as Scootertrash any more and then his picture appears on the back of the book, without any reference to his name.
The book is a fine collection, for sure!
I don't think the nominations board meant a thing, though.
I'm only coming to that conclusion because Lightning Rod had several pieces nominated and so did I, but they chose to select other pieces, rather than the ones which were nominated.
In my case, they selected a short poem which was a total fluff piece which I wrote as a repartee to one of LR's poems for the sole purpose of performing it in NY with him. I was happy to be included, but that little ditty wasn't really a stand-alone piece since it was an answer to another poem. Fluff is stuff that's fun sometimes, though. Maybe they thought that piece was a good representation of my work.
I was also wondering what happened to some of the others who had pieces which were nominated.
I was VERY surprised not to see you, hest, represented in the book! Why???? ggeeezzz
Much to their credit, selecting from a lot of material and being an editor is not an easy thing. I know this because I'm doing it. Typesetting poetry is also not the simplest of chores and they did a great job with that!
I haven't had a lot of time to peruse the book, but I compliment their efforts! It looks good.
I really shouldn't even be offering my opinion. Not after I was excused from the site simply because they decided they didn't want me around any more. Not after the insults.
But, hell, if I can accept former trolls posting on here after all that was said to me, I guess I can be nice and say congratulations to the staff on the publication. (key word "FORMER".. thank you very much)

Miss Hester:
Agreed. Having read a few of your pieces on Litkicks, before it became LitKicks Inc., I think your poetry is as good and really superior to any they have included. But Asher and Co are not into polished or subtle or even cool surrealist-beat writing: he's trying to market a product.
love,
P.

Gee thanks you guys, for saying what you did about my poetry, that felt really really good.
Ahhhh. And back at you!
I never know really, if I'm any good or not. It just comes out. Lots of times as if it's not even me writing it....or some thing will come to mind out of nowhere, and I know, I'm to write about it. But I often think that my writing is too strong, too uh, I don't know how to describe it, just that sometimes after I write something I worry about it being too hard ass, or that it will bring someone reading it down. I figure I'm a better appreciator of poetry than anything else!. heh. So thank you both really.
It's funny too, I wasn't too affected really about not being included, just the usual temporary peer type angst. I even wondered why it didn't bother me more! But, when I saw the cover of the book, and disliked it so much, I figured that it was the goddess looking after me. I wouldn't want to be in that book. It just isn't a representation I want for my stuff.
You know, I never really connected with Levi, or the others in charge at lk's, and now I see why. We have really different basic styles.
Plus, I always tend to stay on the outside looking out of anything too organized. For little while, when I first joined litkicks a few years back, it wasn't so "organized". It got moreso as the time went on, and I retreated. The old "hold backer" in me as I call her, kicked in when the "authorities" arrived. Heh.
I sing awfully strong too. I've been told many times I'm too "strong".
I really don't mean to be a bummer about the book. I just think it could have been 100 percent better if it had been presented differently.
What do I know?

Yes, the silly cover of the LK book is enough to cause any halfway sensitive or artistic person to, instead of putting it on his bookshelf, put in his cockatoo cage. It's ugly and would not even fly as undergound comix ala R Crumb. Ye Gods, better some abstract stuff or cool grainy urban photo than that 10th grade soft porno illustration. Why not just a pic of the orgy held afterwards at Phirekracker's place.
I know: enough Piss on LK already, so this will be the last whine (promise).
