and a stack of printed out emails full of lies

i haven't slept much in a week. hope i don't fall asleep on the highway

You go girl!!!! I can't believe the creep's name is Rob. How utterly ironic.
I'm with you in spirit.....
Don't forget to post pictures of your respite and adventures at the beach.
Keep us posted on "Rob".
Hugs galore!

the police? I'm not sure they can help with rip off contractors. Is he liscensed and registered with the BBB? Give them a call and ask what avenues are available. What what his job? Did he do anything? or did he just take a down payment check and run?

thanks, hest... i didn't want to pursue any legal action.. I did everything.. and i mean everything i could do to avoid this, even offering to extend the contract or write a new one and he didn't show up to do either. I had no choice. Would you believe his name is Rob Steal? lol! no, it's not, just kidding. heh ;)

cecil - i really shouldn't be going on vacation. I can't afford it now. But I'm going anyway. I'll just go into debt. What the heck. It's american, right? I couldn't see being robbed of it... exactly. :)

yab - This contractor did a great job renovating my bathroom so I hired him to do some work in my kitchen. What he did was come here, cut the wall down between the kitchen and family room and leave live wires hanging down from the ceiling. That's all the work he did and I wish he hadn't done it because it's dangerous and will cost me more to get it fixed. He has admitted using the money from my down payment for another purpose and not having the money to buy my materials now, asking me to be patient with him. However this is after a month of lies about which materials were ordered, etc. .. when they weren't. And lies saying he'll show up the next day when he didn't. It's pretty obvious to me he doesn't have any intention of fixing my kitchen per our contract, though it's taken me a while to come to this conclusion as I like to give people the benefit of the doubt and i never want legal shit in my life. No, I found out he's not licensed. I doubt he's registered with the BBB. The avenue I chose to pursue for now is small claims court. I may end up pursuing a criminal case also. Contract fraud. Larceny. All that. But I haven't decided yet. Of course, I'll drop it all if I get my money back as a result of the civil suit or before that even (one can only hope). thanks for asking and for your ideas. :)

Yab, i forgot to mention that i offered to extend his contract or write a new contract and he still didn't respond. The last straw was the background check which showed felony larceny convictions.

thanks judih.... i wish I could forget about all this ... I hope I can relax despite the stress of it all .... I wish I had somebody to go with me but I don't. But I do enjoy my own company so that's a good thing.

Thanks Mark... headed for the store to p/u some last minute items. I don't have any sunscreen. I appreciate the reminder.

See you all next week. I put the ocean banner up so you can all be there with me :)
