Where have all the poets gone?
Where have all the poets gone?
All these male intellectuals in my school who want to de-establish our capitalistic society and tear down the veil of conceptualized beauty and conformity are all too busy chasing the barbie dolls around school, leaving me in the dust.
so funny

Lookit, I am a woman (so don't get me wrong) but if you are half as pretty in person as you are in your picture, these guys are FOOLS. Besides that, you're smart. What more could anyone want?
As for Britney Spears, Beyonce and ... who ...? They are ugly. OK, I admit Avril Lavigne has something going, but it ain't looks, that's for sure. She's OK. Britney and Beyonce are just plain ugly. Britney smokes. That's how she keeps her svelte figure, and the rest of her is, well, ugly.
As for de-establishing capitalist society, please to kindly remember that this is a patriarchal concept. If women had control of the world for the last three thousand years, there would be no capitalist society. It would probably be some cooperative system instead. So ... measure these guys and their words carefully.

most definitely
These "enlightened" young men are most definitely intellectual imposters. This we must establish firstly before acknowledging the fact that they are feeding off the ritualistic indulgence of their forefathers, the crotch-scratching caveman. How advanced can your ideology be when you drown yourself in the pleasures of the very society whose norms you try to deconstruct daily?
hypocrisy
Thank you Abcrystcats, I take your compliment straight to my core because I'm not too wild about my looks. I have the mental capacity to succeed in life, which I would like to believe manifests itself in some form of intelligence, although not extremely evolved as others.
All these female figures of beauty imposed on the play-doh of our cultural minds completely deform the concept of what true beauty is. How we take sex, the shape of the body and the profundity of the mind so lightly! Our culture is greased with fatal superficiality so that girls like myself who don't fit this unrealistic mold are taught to believe that we are unwanted rejected slabs of beef that will be lucky to snag any male, be he beast or human. Granted, I have stepped out of the system to enrich myself enough to point out the problem, but I admittedly have degraded myself into believing that I am a monster for being a size 12, having a round form and not being endowed with much facial attractiveness. Its a sickness that is spreading thick on everyone and we have to make it stop before more girls grow up deformed by this erroneous concept, as I have.
speak sister, we must be unified in our fight against women

ooof!
Such unflattering pictures! Looking at them, I can see I have lost a significant amount of weight, I don't look nearly as big as I do in those horrid pictures. Or perhaps more than losing, I have defined my body with exercise and a healthy lifestyle. Well, I'd like to believe I don't look as round and flabby as I did in those April pictures...Thank you for your kindness dearest Doreen, although I do feel even uglier seeing my fat reflection staring back at me. I do wish those pictures were burned. Its odd how happy Armando and I look in them...

Thank you!
Thank you Doreen! You know, I have definitely delved into my mental bag of Lucy comedy for my skits in acting and its worked thus far. This Monday I have to perform a skit advertising the paranoid, way too blunt, self-conscious character I have created on a video dating service. I am salivating for this scene, its right up my proverbial alley!
thank you everyone
Thank you all! Your words are encouraging!
ahh men
they are creatures that leave me puzzled and hurt
but I like them so
(sometimes)
Looking at those pictures of myself again, I know I DO NOT look like that anymore. I compare my profile picture with those you took Doreen and see there is a huge difference (at least to me) I was so bloated and ready to pop, I look much better now (although still round minus that bubbling tummy, still have some of it but its not nearly as noticable) A healthy lifestyle will do that you.
Can someone make those moments of unhappiness go away? Seeing Armando and I together brings back too many memories of what was. Speaking of which, his birthday was yesterday and this is the first time in 7 years I haven't celebrated it with him. I didn't even call him. I remembered at work and then forgot. Better this way. I am over him and I have moved on.
Okay enough of my babbling. I'm sorry.

Dear Lucy -- so you are from Chile? Or somewhere in the general area -- I kind of figured something like that.
I am transcribing my grandfather's autobiography, and he spent many years of his life in South America. A size 12 is nothing to be ashamed of -- no way. You are svelte by our standards.
BTW, being sexy has little or nothing to do with size. You have beautiful skin and a beautiful face and you are full of life. These things have meaning.
Hypocrisy has no meaning at all. Therefore, you must ignore the ridiculous declamations of the male people around you.
Ignore everything that does not seem to be YOU. If it does not seem to be you, then it is NOT you. You are a woman -- that is the best thing to be -- in any language, culture or nation. Rejoice in yourself and be powerful, because that is what you are. You are beautiful.

unflattering? yer kidding! you are beautiful! gorgeous!
i look different than i did at any point in time when someone took a photo of me... i''m always changing.... we all are
i love men, too.... those puzzling beasts
you are beautiful, gurl... jeeezzzzzzzzz ....
nobody can make moments of unhappiness go away.... but nobody can ever make the moments of happiness go away either....
i remember every happy moment no matter if i had to find out later that the moment was complete.
i've only read two of your replies... i'm trying to keep up... my computer crashed

ladies, i have to take umbrage...i'm going to try to do this without seeming condescending or sexist...not that you folks have done the same...
true that society has a fixation on what is perfect (good) and what isn't...it ain't britney, she just rocks a certain crowd...all these little honeygirls and honeyboys attract certain crowds...when they are summed up if they attract the moviebuying/CDbuying crowds then they succeed, although there is a certain amount of selling done by the execs that tell folks who to like and who to buy
but it doesn't fucking matter...why do these folks value so-called pretty women who are not 'with weight'? is it society telling folks what is beautiful? is it instinct instilling the right hormonal mix? it doesn't matter....a person will either be attracted to a person or they won't...i think those who believe that culture/society tells folks what to think is beautiful is, ignore the natural attraction laws, and therefore try to make excuses as to why they themselves don't garner the attraction they think they deserve...frankly, just because a guy doesn't like you, doesn't mean it's because they don't see the real you
i speak from experience...these feelings are not reserved for women only
as lou said "i'm not trying to be smart, or cool on my part, but i'm not going to wear my heart on my sleeve..."
love conquers all, it's just slow in coming sometimes....
i used to be a high and mighty music lover, hated this and that, laughed at the fads and plastic bands the radios pumped at me...then when i had kids i figured it out...my daughter loved the spice girls when she was 9 or 10....i was disgusted at first, then after the 556th time hearing it my car i realized it's no different than saturday cartoons...it's just grown-up stuff for grown-down kids...britney is the same...she isn't the problem...the problem is the corporations that pump her on tv and radio to keep the money machine rolling...she's just a stupid vapid little girl doing what she likes...don't get mad at her - get mad at the record companies
and cat...i don't get the calling women ugly scthick...that was one of the ugliest posts i'd seen in a while...sounds like a revenge attempt to me...these girls are not the enemy; they're just folks doing something; doing their thing...being commercial and sexual doesn't make it invalid...
frankly, i think we spend too much time around here patting each other on the back when really we should be challenging each other...i think we've settled into something so easy to us we are really no different than anyone else who settles into the comfortable (read britney, etc...)
anyway...there is my rant...this just sounds like a whole bunch of fucking whining to me...i think we'd be better off focusing on improving ourselves rather than dragging other folks down to us...

knip... i love ya but scroll back..... i think you may have missed something
that's not patting each other on the back.... that's just being honest....
britney (or better said, her publicity campaign) isn't "comfortable"... on the contrary... she's a barbie doll madison avenue bullshit clone.... she's not real... that's not SEX she portrays!.... comfortable? LOL! no way...... it's phoney bullshit airbrushed non-personality bullshit shit..... women HATE her.. do you know why? because..... we can THINK! and the image which is projected for her ad campaign strongly suggests that not only can she not THINK but to NOT THINK is part of the viable vision of the PERFECT WOMAN
talk about hypocrosy....
fucking men have done the same type of image campaign for decades.....
Listen knip....
we DO rejoice in ourselves....... believe me.....
so
anyway...there is my rant...this just sounds like a whole bunch of fucking whining to me.
..i think we'd be better off focusing on improving ourselves rather than dragging other folks down to us...
patting each oher on the back? what's wrong with that? i saw your photo and told you i thought you were gorgeious, too, and you saw mine and said the same thingfrankly, i think we spend too much time around here patting each other on the back when really we should be challenging each other...i think we've settled into something so easy to us we are really no different than anyone else who settles into the comfortable (read britney, etc...)

i knew i'd get a reaction
listen dollface...i told you i thought you were gorgeous because i thought you were gorgeous, OK?
but really now...of COURSE britney ain't real...that isn't the point...none of these folks (guys or girls) who garner that type of following are REAL...neither are most of those who don't garner that type of following
hell..kerouac wasn't REAL...he's got all these beat followers despite being a rightist
my point is none of it fucking matters...taking aim on the britneys of the world is an excuse...she ain't the fucking enemy...she's just pap...the enemy is unfocused, inobjective (is that a word?), finger-pointing complainers
ok...another rant...i really do love you all...
