22nd august at 11.35am we welcomed a 7lb 10oz baby named Myla Simone into the world. She is the joy that never ceases. The part of my life that shines brighter than anything else. Who knew something that caused me 12 hours of the most miserable pain I've ever experienced could make me so happy:

judih- the birth. hmm. Pain. then drugs. then blissful euphoria induced by drugs. then drugs wore off. then more pain. then baby came. LOL. Actually it was a bit scary (not for the obviuous reasons) b/c just as I was about to deliver, baby's heart rate took a nose dive so I was rushed to the OR where they were going to do an emergency c-section. Luckily she came around and I got to experience the tremendous pleasure of having a human being fall out of my vagina. The end. LOL. Thanks to all of you for admiring and congratulating me on Myla. She is a joy. Can't wait til she starts babbling her first words. I'm hoping she can recite the diamond sutra by the time she's 5. Hugs and kissesright back at you D, and LRod, you're totally the cyber Godfather. Now hold out your cyber gold pinky ring so that we can kiss it. Then you can make me an offer I can't refuse... or was declaring yourself Godfather the offer?

kayla, i'm so proud of you. You had a wild roller coaster birth experience and came out of it with your sense of humour (and awe) intact.
how cool that myla knew that the exit via vagina was a trip worth taking.
now, don't forget to kegel, dear k. squeeze. hold for 5 seconds. release for 5. and repeat.
how's nursing? are you starving all the time?
oh, i'm so imagining you and her together. And the weather will be reasonable for awhile for walks, i hope.
Dave, when you get those buttons worked out, i'll take 6!
When's the whole family invited? i wanna see the god-relatives and cousins for a group pic. (when we had our first, G told his mom not to get near our place for 3 weeks - he wanted us to work out the bond without interruption)
and what could i do? i had to figure out the diaper/bath/etc routines without another woman's wisdom. i muddled through, and i'm glad i did.
hugs. let me know if you need an ear.

Is she winking at me?
I really think Myla is the most beautiful baby I have ever seen. So glad you posted this. You have been in my thoughts a lot this past week. I remember you said August.
Congratulations to you and Nate.
And

continued thanx to everyone who sent their love and congrats. Interesting article ST. It's hard for us lactating mothers out here. Forced to retreat to uncomfy bathroom stalls shut up behind closed doors against the general consensus. It sucks (no pun intended) I do think more babies should be breastfed. It's almost stupid that more of them arent. These moms are just being friggin lazy. there's breast pumps and breast pad, and breast cream to relieve pain. Every problem presented by breastfeeding has more than enough products intended to address them. There's really no excuse to deprive your baby from such a healthy start.

p,s if babies do pick their parents, then I did a shitty job on my dad. How does that process work exactly? Is it like a Cosmos thing?
