music files are a mystery to me. They also have to be hosted somewhere online.

pictures are easy. Photobucket is your host.
Click on the photo and right click on 'properties'. Save the URL of the photo and insert it here using the Img button on top of the posting box.

simple.

Mark -

Macs come with a mouse that only have one button but you can right click by holding down the control key at the same time you click. (bottom row on left) http://www.ehow.com/how_6542_click-mac.html

You can also get another mouse - that's just the mouse the computer comes with, the one with one button. I have one for my mack with right and left clicks on top, two more clicks on the right and left where your thumb and middle finger go for backward and forward when you're navigating the net, and a wheel in the middle for scrolling on the top. Very ergo dynamic, can program it to do other things if I want to (but haven't needed to) and i think it only cost something like $15. I can send you a link if you want.

But you don't need to right click, I don't think because on photobucket, it looks like they supply you with the code you need in a list -

1) Share URL - Email & IM
2) Direct Lin - Layout Pages
3) HTML Code - Websites & Blogs
4) IMG Code - Forums & Bulletin Boards

For forums & bulletin boards like this one, click inside the code #4, the IMG code, select all, copy all, and then come back here. The code you need will be on your mac's "clipboard" memory and be ready to paste here.

I arbitrarily clicked one after hitting the photobucket site. The IMG code for this image is http://i0006.photobucket.com/albums/000 ... 6613-2.jpg - I just clicked in the box that said IMG code and got it.

Photobucket kindly gives you the IMG tags on the front and back of the code so it works without you adding the tags and brackets. I pasted the code here and here it is -

Your IMG code from photobucket will look like this (without the spaces)

On the boards, here, we don't offer any upload hosting features for music and images like some sites you may go to do.

The new site under development will allow you to upload galleries of images, images one at a time, music files one at a time, or entire albums of music. We will be hosting them and you will have 500 mgs of space on the server to store your material and show it on the new home page you can create for yourself once the site is launched.

_____________

For now, to host music, you will need to use another hosting service. I don't have any recommendations as I don't use any of these but I just did a quick search on google for "host music free"

http://www.google.com/search?source=ig& ... gle+Search

There are lots of sites to choose from!

Then, once your mp3 is hosted somewhere, you can link directly to it here in a posting window by pasting the URL which leads to the MP3.

Hope this helps.

You're welcome! And thanks to judih, too, for her help!

Why don't you use this thread to try it out? Find an image or two in your photobucket account and post to this thread and if you have a problem, just ask right here on the thread and we'll help. :)

When should we do the jam? Saturday and Sunday next week? Start on Fri night maybe? (hehe.. i'm laughing at myself because I said it would be great to have a short jam to get more people here at once but i keep making it longer.. haha)

i think the jam should start on judih time.....which is 7 hours earlier than us i believe......noon friday would be cool and just let it go till it runs it's course we'll know.....it's been a long time since a concerted effort jam, i'll try and pull some new jammers in, there's 2 new jammers on thistles & marigolds that have made it real cool there and some people on the poetryinbaltimore.com site have been jammin' with me periodically.......

Sounds good to me, Mark! I'll work on an announcement between now and then.

It has a been a while since we had a regular ordinary word jam.

We did do the Summer-Long Every Picture Tells A Story Travelogue Jam this summer and that ended in September, so not so long since that happened, only 2 months. (That's now a regular forum feature).

But that's what gave me the idea of doing something shorter because it lasted so long, it sorta didn't have that spontaneity we have when more people are online at once when it's set for a limited time period.

That would be great if you invited people! Thanks very much! The more the merrier!
