Dormant

This place is as dormant as winter.
Maybe it died and will come back to life like spring.

Hope all are well.

Sorry I haven't had much time to be here.
I've been busy rearranging my life and trying to stay well.
Have been sick with asthma and congestion 2x within the past month.
Sigh.

Stress can play havoc sometimes. Cross your fingers for a mild winter.

What would you like to talk about?

Writting
or
is it
writing?

I have looked that word up a hundred times in the past years and I can not remember how to spell it. And I don't know how to punctuate this sentence. Sometimes I think about you when I write and I think about how you wince at every semi colon, comma or misspelled word I write. Sometimes I get so

One T. Writing. (because write has one T and if you added another T, it would be pronounced like writ-ting with a short i, like a writ in law terms... RIT)

I don't wince at every semi colon, comma or misspelled word you write.

OK. Let's talk about writing.

I haven't written much in a long time. I need inspiration to write. I can't seem to get inspired by anything or anybody.

writing-writing...mmm...I guess not now, I just finished to type the summer homework for my sixth grade students and some words for the school end-of-the-year tarjetas. Now I have to find somewhere a printer because mine is again in-strike. I have to do the tarjetas. And finish the planification for the still not promoted kids. And corregir the written works. Then dinner with friends that are not teachers and talk about whatever except school
take care, doreen!. Kisses,

I hardly ever have any inspiration, but it has not slowed me down any.

it'll give all the young-uns something to look forward to....
hope your all right D.....the internet writing scene has
become a wasteland, if it was'nt for ST i'd throw in the towel
it's sad scenario and it leaves us helpless....helpless....helpless
art and music wise things are cooking, that's the upside

Dear Doreen:

You are precious to all of us, and as far as health problems go, they are a real bastard.

I won't retell my own history because most contributors here already know it-- and it doesn't add anything.

What I have learned from my friends and relatives who have been ill is this:

Everything often works well until you're about fifty ( unless you're Poe or Keats).

Then little nags appear-- odd little things. Things in the physical world having to do with your mind and body that are difficult to dismiss. They come and they go (if you're lucky, they go . . .).

Some of us have good luck, like Francis Bacon ( the painter) and no matter how many cigarettes we smoke and gallons of booze we drink and beautiful boys we copulate with, we make it to our eighties.

If you're not born under an American bomb on its way down in suburban Baghdad, you're lucky.

"Love is the thing
that's holding the stars together . . ."

( e.e. cummings)

You're just as lively, witty and charming as you were ten years ago.

You may not dance the can-can quite as easily, but I've taken a few hits in my last twenty fencing matches myself.

Holiday love and peace,

--N ( that's a "Z" turned up on end . . .)

Jack... no inspiration is your inspiration? Great! That statement is now my inspiration! I will use it to get inspired. :? ;)

WIREman - oh man, what a depressing subject! No! I don't want to write about that! Music and art are cookin? Cool! That's what I'm talkin about!

Artguy - A NYC project? Excellent! Again? I'm happy for you! Tell us more! :)

Zlatko - Good to see you! Thing is, this asthma problem really has nothing to do with aging.... I've been asthmatic since I was a kid. So everything of mine never worked all the way OK. ;) All my life, stress issues have always exasperated my asthma. I hadn't really had many attacks for the past few years until recently. It was the frickin so-called kitchen contractor who stole my money & fucked up my kitchen who started all this stress. Between that and the financial struggles with work and the decision to end the relationship and move forward as friends instead, and other shit which probably would bore the hell out of you and everybody else, well the stress has paid its toll, but I'm still alive and kickin' the can can... 'cause I CAN! ha! :) And yer a strong guy so I know your epee will touche 'em the next 20 matches!~

Listening to a radio show with Frank Zappa... it's an hour long show... 82 megabytes... if anybody wants the link, I'll post it. Pretty darn cool!

Holiday love and peace to all of you, too!

hey, i'm breathing and lots of dreams left.
so, i oppose the falling apart over -50 cliche.

Just finished Diane diPrima's Recollections of my Life as a Woman and well, wow. What a chunk of recollections.
Kinda brings back the generic fuel to be, create and step beyond outer obstacles.
Recommended.
Today's back to school - back to coping with other people's problems. om mane padmi hum. (that's to give me the strength to shower, exercise and get on the road)

take care of yourself, doreen. Winter tempts all illness to step on out and bring us down, but winter is only a phase. We shall overcome.

And greetings to all.
It's good we're together in all this.

Well, I did ask what YOU wanted to talk about so, WIREMAN, if you want to talk about life after 50, that's fine. ;) Just feelin sorta depressed 'cause I'm fallin apart here, yanno? Gotta get well and back to the gym. All will be OK come spring. I've always detested winter. Seriously, I need to get over that, I know, but I'm thinking the only way I'm going to get over it completely is to one day move somewhere warmer! Snow and ice coming again this weekend. ARghhhhh.....

judih - I oppose it, too, so I'm gonna have to fight it! I think 2008 will be a very good year! After all, it's the year of the EIGHT, right? How can it be bad? That dePrima book sounds good. Maybe I'll read that! Thanks for the recommendation! Glad you enjoyed your holiday. I admire you for the work you do. One day we'll both retire. I'm considering writing my congressman to encourage 55 as the year of retirement instead of 65. Makes much more sense to me. I'm ready to get some dreams fulfilled. ;)

Pablo Casals started on a world tour playing cello concerts when he was 90 . . .

and finished the tour . . .

And went on after that!
