I emailed him to say Happy New Year. Jimbo did the same. He replied. He says he's fine and is spending a lot of time riding his motorcycle and working. We both told him he is missed!
Real lives can be fun! I'm planning on getting myself one, too, one day.
....
Hey 'truckin'.... stop by and say hi when you get a chance! You've got friends in this machine that miss ya!

Life outside this box??..... Say it ain't so!
One of them there Nu Year's Rezolutions, mebbe?
Seriously, glad to here he's still truckin' on the outside...
Yeh, you know, it would be cool if we could all meet, or maybe at least talk on the phone... then again, maybe it's the anomymity-- that mystery-- that sustains the whole thing...

I talked on the phone with hester last night. It was great! I've also talked to several other people on the phone through the years (ncluding judih and 'trucking....) and met a few in person also.... plus did shows together... quite a few! .. Im not scared of threatening the mystery by removing the anonymity... are you? so to all studio eighters.... call me.

Hmm... Lessee.
The people here I've talked to on the phone I've also met....
Cecil, Soo, Zlatko, Hester, Laurie, Glorious Amok... wow, that's six!
Never did make it out east when I had all that time, though... was too wrapped up in my desert back roads... O' well...

i say that mystery's overrated
then, again, i don't really like telephones
all that phone holding burns my ear
can't we just hold hands?

Well jim why do you think there are those ads in the miami papers for cheap land in the occupied territories?
In answer to Texas trucker, an associate of Kinky Friedman, or at least a neighbor, my impression is that it is necessary to set limits. The Israelis need to set limits about what they are willing to tolerate in terms of violent abuse from the Palestinians and Hezbollah, but also they need to set limits on their expansion of territories and their unmitigated explosions into frustrated violence.
Yesh Gvul is an Israeli military veterans organisation that is allied with my Veterans for Peace. My own history of serving in Vietnam and then refusing to fly KC-135's due to my protest of the ongoing air war makes me a refusenik, a brother of these Israeli military veterans.
However, I am not exactly a pacifist. I would have bombed hell out of germany in WW dos,
and expect that you, Kinky's compadre, would have been in the trenches sniping just like you do here, not entirely unwelcome, either. Now that we are not burdened with the passion of extreme mass violence, it should be easier to affirm a conciliatory tone in discussing this area with an extroadinary opportunity to learn anew.
To make changes, it is necessary to unlearn old things in order to assimilate new horizons.
this was his last post to me, maybe his last post of all

That is something you said to me along time ago jim and I was kind of puzzled by the remark. What did you mean by the remark, why did you say that to me? Maybe you could tell me sometime.
I don't want no truck with Kinky Freidman, I lost my sense of humor after the last election here in texas.
to which i replied
i guess my comment about buying a settlement property was a joke, not a good one ....Stay well and keep the hope alive,
peace, Jim
ps you would laugh if i tried to sing
so nobody ain't lost any sense of humor
besides it was kinky who said the ten commandments should be called
th ten suggestions
makes sense to me
then no more texas trucker
but
but at least he did reply me an email
said he didn't drink no hemlock
just ate a donut
ah well
he says he ain't got nothing more to say

After reading that exchange, it has become very clear to me, Jimbo, that it is all your fault that stilltrucking took a break from here.

LOL! Sarcasm intended. Kidding, of course.
I talked to him on the phone so yeah, he has a phone number. I don't have it any more, tho, unfortunately. Let's email him and get it and then we can have a Studio Eight conference call. Imagine that! heh
But seriously... i do totally understand the need for a break. I ran out of things to say a couple of years ago myself. Seems like that anyway. I feel creatively dry. Trying to get it back.
Speaking of back....I bet Jack will be back. (if I were a betting lady)

Yes I agree that he was maybe getting ready for a break anyhow. His last several posts were somewhat wearied. I told him that he is like me, too sensitive, and takes it all in without filtering much, a new skill that I am learning.
Ill bet you ten shekels he'll be back. I did email him with this thread link.
Hey Jack! Have you seen the Popeye statue in Crystal City?

toot toot!
