I'm in love with big hollow bodied jazz models.

I bought an ex shop demo model (new, but fingered) of the washburn j5. it's a beautiful thing. I prefer chrome hardware, this has gold, but that's really a small thing when I consider just how beautiful this thing is.

the body is almost as deep as my epiphone sj series acoustic. the sound, un-amped is great.

Now I need to get an amp

yeah, forgot that bit...

I've had a look at some second hand refurb amps in a guitar shop near where I work. they have lovely vox amps at good prices.

so, yes, I opted for the washburn j5 (i won't post a picture because doreen will kill me for breaking internet protocols). here's a link to a picture:

very cool! i was figuring you may have been still thinking and searching. you took the leap! did you exchange your epiphone toward the cost?

oh, and yeah, an amp would add to the musicality of what lyou're going for.

I still have the epiphone. I may try to sell it on ebay. It'll help to lessen the dent made in my wallet by this purchase.

it hasn't been a rash decision. I've been looking around, toying with the idea, and thinking it over for a few weeks.

My one tiny issue is the huge "W" bridge piece. I think, over time, I'll try to get a replacement piece for that.

the amps i've been looking at are all refurb and fairly inexpensive so I may make that purchase over the weekend.

i really should also buy a stand. this baby is too pretty for standing up against corners. to quote one of the great movies of our time, "no one puts baby in a corner."

it looks much like one of the favorite guitars I've ever owned, a Guild with pretty much the same design. Very versatile ax.

guild have/had some beautiful looking hollow bodies.

I'm in love with gretsch semi acoustics. i also think the rickenbacker 381 is one of the most beautiful man made creations ever.

but I have to settle for affordable good quality copies and second hand models.
