Get Ready for War!
Russia has made a very shrewd decision to attack Georgia on the first day of the Olympics when the world's attention is focused on Beijing.
It is also very ironic that George Bush should be in China watching the spectacular opening ceremony of the Olympic games with Alexander Putin when Russia invades a sovereign country named Georgia.
Today Bush went to a Chinese Christian church and attended a basketball game and appeared to be having the time of his life. Ok, so what if Russia has invaded a sovereign country that is one of our friends in a not very friendly region? Let's play ball.
Sure, I know it's the Olympics, but when the call came at 3:00 in the morning our president was asleep. He's still asleep at the wheel.
What he should have done was to slide down the bleachers at the opening ceremonies and planted his ass next to his buddy Putin and said, "let me buy you a beer. And by the way, if you don't pull your tanks out of Georgia, you are going to be in a world of shit. Like my daddy said when Iraq invaded a sovereign country, 'This Will Not Stand.' Hope you enjoy the games, Pooty."
Yes, that's what he should have done, but at least he should have done the same thing in a more dignified public way in a statement.
I agree that girl's beach volleyball is much more fun than impending world war, but the president's job description, George, includes responding to world situations like this one. You can watch the beach bimbos on Tivo.
The Poet's Eye sees war on the horizon. Real War.

yeah, the good news is that the US beat the Chinese in basketball
now, here's the rest of the story:
the world is about to freak out
nobody seems to realize that this event could easily set off WWIII
When Iraq invaded Kuwait, George Sr. said, "This Will Not Stand"
Kuwait is a sultanate, a monarchy. They are nowhere close to a democracy, but they do have oil.
Georgia is a country that exactly fits the model that Bush purportedly supports. It is a fledgling democracy.
Georgia wanted to join NATO. The country represents everything that we are preaching in the Bush democratic evangelism doctrine.
If we don't open a can of whupass on the Russians, we are not only cowards but also hypocrites.
But mark my words. We are all in trouble.

"If we don't open a can of whupass on the Russians, we are not only cowards but also hypocrites."
You sound like Stone Cold Steve Austin here, Clay.
Do you really believe Dubya can prevent Dubya-Dubya-III by intruding in the affairs of Russia... at a time when the whole friggin' world is already at un-ease and unsettled about the future ? Dubya invaded Iraq and look at what that fiasco cost us. How much dinero do you think our country has to start war with Russia ? Hell, let's go and fuck with Iran while we're fightin'... let's whupass everybody that fucks with our idea of democracy. We don't have anything better to do but to go fucking broke, homeless and jobless while defending ideals that are strictly American.

What interests me about it is how it will play out in our elections down here. It seems to be helping McCain more so far.

We've placed ourselves in a position that globally we don't have the wherewithal to do anything," Stratfor's Mr. Friedman said. "One would think under those circumstances, we'd shut up."
One senior administration official laughed when told of that comment.
"Well, maybe we're learning to shut up now," he said. He asked that his name not be used because he was not authorized to speak publicly on the issue.
Dallas Morning News
I read my news, I don't want it coming at me 24/7.
Sometimes I hear myself expressing opinions like there is a pull string in my back. Pull my string and I will repeat an pre recorded opinion I heard some pundit give. And which I think is my own.
So where are you getting your opinions Clay?

I try not to have opinions, truck
they get in the way of thinking
but if I were going to have opinions
this is how I would make them:
first get the facts. This is sometimes the hard part
unless you are an eyewitness to an event
you have to accept what another reporter says about it
it's fortunate that today we often have several viewpoints available
so it's good to compare and get an average of second hand observations
then you add the spices
humor, hopefully
insight and experience
your world view
and voila----an opinion!
