Studio8 - Uniting the Arts

Okay so what you do here is, in under 25 minutes, you write 25 random things about yourself that either you would like people to know, or that you don't think people might know... or both! It's actually a facebook thing but it's so much fun I thought I'd share it with you guys here. So here's my list:

1. I sometimes get a little down, but Vampire Weekend, The Shins, and pictures by Adam Green ALWAYS make me happy.

2. I am very slightly addicted to Facing the Book.

3. I heart saying "I heart..."

4. I think Ellen Page is tops.

5. I am obsessed with every show on Showtime, and cannot live without it.

6. I'm really into people who are really into the arts.

7. I tend to think pretty highly of my ability to express my own personal opinions. It's a problem.

8. I talk a ton, but I do my best to make sure that it's about things I actually know about so that I at least am an intelligent rambler instead of a stupid one. Unlike a few other people whose names start with K.

9. I had a lot of problems with my name once I learned my grandma got it from a soap opera, but then I got over it, excepted my name's overall awesomeness and the pride of having been named by one of the most incredible women ever.

10. Every once in awhile, my hair looks really fierce, and it's because my favorite cousin beat it back for me, even though she has a degree in TV Production, and works in education, neither of which are credentials that would typically qualify one as an amateur beautician, but she kinda is.

11. I am definitely ALL about dancing the night away.

12. I'm kind of obsessed with witty, dark, sarcastic humor. It's my thing.

13. I think Garden State is the best movie. EVER.

14. If I can't sleep, I'll lay in bed with my eyes closed and imagine myself in completely impossible yet decidedly awesome scenarios, sometimes involving various celebrities I am crazy about. Most recently, Adam Green.

15. I really hate when people ask me if my baby is white. Yes she is very pale but she is obviously not completely white if I birthed her.

16. I'm not the kind of friend who is going to hate your boyfriend for you. If he does something douchey, I'll male-bash with you, but if I don't really know the guy, I'm probs not gonna care. Sorry. Wanna go get some ice cream?

17. I become more and more enamored of my pal Avery every time I hear him belittle and berate anyone. It really makes my day.

18. I really hate it when people assume that just because I'm into writing poetry and the arts that I'm one of those atypical "afro-centric" black people. Because I'm not. It's true that Jill, Erykah and Musiq are amazing, and I do listen to my share of Common, Mos, and Talib. But I also have a crush on Julian Casablancas from The Strokes. And I love writing on my chucks. I hate being labeled.

19. I don't only date white guys, or black guys, or anyone, and I don't have a type. Unless you count musicians. Cuz I'll definitely get weak-kneed for a musical dude.

20. I get bored sort of easily, so if you're talking about something and I'm not talking a lot, I'm probably zoning out because you're boring the crap out of me.

21. I have looked older than I really am right up until I was 18, and then I began looking younger. Which is really idiotic, but I think it's maybe a black people thing.

22. I have a very high tolerance for wearing heels. When I was fifteen I would walk around in them all day, all over the city, and my bestie, Quinn can vouch for this.

23. I have only ever shopped at the Limited, and Banana Republic when I worked for the respective companies because I have a deep religious faith in discounts.

24. I can sometimes spend all day on the computer because I am a bit of a nerd.

25. I'm really into doing things like this to pass the time... okay maybe I do them because I'm also really into myself as well.

You're not supposed to think about it when you do. You just write it. That's what makes it golden. After my friends went out for my birthday last night, we came back to my brother's dorm and created a list of twenty five things about our group of friends. It was crazy, and all over the place. But fun. I don't really remember much of them but I know number one was:

1. We are, on average, the loudest group of people. Anywhere.

I can do twenty five minutes without thinking standing on my head. But i may not come up with twentyfive things.

1) I did not recognize the name of one of those celebrities you mentioned.

2) I think some people can smell that I am a Jew.

3) I used to think I was the most paranoid person here.

4) I used to think that women were men with breasts.

5) I can't dance but I still believe in dancing the night away

6) I think of all the dumb things I have said to the women of studio eight and I think the dumbest was said to you.

6) I met Sylvia Plath about ten years after her death and we have gone steady these past thirty seven years.

7) I once thought I was going to write a romance between the protagionists of The Bell Jar and On The Road.

8 ) Sometimes I lay in bed at night and imagine Sal Paradise and Esther Greenwood living in a trailer park in Biloxi Mississippi

9) My mind wanders.

10) Will always think of you when I see the words "Creative Complaints"

11) I play with puppets

13) It took me about four years to figure out how to pronounce izeveryboyin

14) I almost changed my avatar today, but I thought about you and felt good that we both have the same guy as our avatar.

15) I spend a lot of time thinking about that wall in my avatar and what the note he put in there.

16) I hope his Jesus is a better man that the one George W Bush was talking to.

17) Of anyone here I think I enjoy debating politics with you cause you have so much conviction of your belief.

18 ) Mostly the only things I hate right now are Cholera and Mugabe.

19) I got another dog. This one a female. Which is a lot easier to give a belly rub to than a male.

twenty four minutes

St- I love your mind. I think I always will. If perhaps a bit twisted, and a bit brass... it is powerful, it has strong opinions, it formulates ideas and theories in spite of itself. And I think, if you would not be so hard on it... it could be incredibly sexy.
