here is the original version of the tune I wrote about my hat
http://www.doreenperi.com/video/chapeau3.mov
and here is the version of the same tune done by my partner Barry Gremillion.

I love it when someone cares enough about my music to re-interpret it.

Tip of the hat to you sir , and was it done in the
Fedora style , or did i detect a hint of Borsalino.
Very cool piece L-R , Thanks . A-O.

It's a word I coined to describe rough, angular jazz
Has an earthier quality to it too, more like blues, only to heavy to be blues, and too jazzy to be rock
Tom Waits does it from time to time, so did Captain Beefheart

How about Frank Zappa did he do it as well????

Hey Elrod --
I couldn't hear the original of My Chapeau in my office so I checked it out at home tonight. My three year-old daughter strolled in and gave the song a listen.
"Daddy, who is that?"
"That's Clay, sweetie."
"Oh. What is that song?"
"He's singing a song called My Chapeau."
Long pause.
"Do you like that song, Sarah?" I asked.
"Yeah. I want to see him."
"Let me see if I can find his web site."
I click around a bit and find the LR World HQ. "Here he is."
"I like that picture of Clay with all the colors," she said.
And there you have it. A three year-old fan. By the way, I left the fact that you were a former guest of the governor of Texas out of the conversation. I'll save that until she's four.
I didn't tell the wife either. Sometimes it's best just to avoid a whole discussion.

I always pay particular attention to how children react to my music. It is the most honest criticism possible.
I know that a tune works if a child moves to it.
my most cherished fans are under five.
