can't sign in using firefox, can you?

Post by judih » August 14th, 2009, 7:15 am

for over a week, i've been unable to post at the studio. Firefox won't let me sign in, even though the studio is okayed for cookies and security.
Over in Canada, firefox wouldn't even let me read the Studio- no entry whatsoever. Hence my question:
Is anyone out there browsing and posting with firefox?

cheers- judih

Yes I am using Firefox now. It will not remember my user name (no auto complete) but if I sign in every time it will let me in.

I sure hope you get it working.

From the tool bar :
Go to : Edit / Preferences , click to open :
Click on the Privacy Icon . Look for COOKIES :
Accept cookies from site , check the box.
Do the same with :

You should be able to browse Studio eight ...

I can sign in with Firefox, but I have to do it twice in succession. Once only doesn't do it. Maybe that helps. Hopefully.

Judih... Try Pierre's "fix"...

Pierre, you're always so knowledgeable about this stuff! Thank you!

I use Safari for Mac and sometimes Firefox and haven't had a problem getting in other than the fact I have to log in 2x using Safari. With Firefox, I get in first log in.

I'm a techie dummy... shouldn't be in charge of this site.. lol... i mean, I have no answers!

We missed you when you were on vacation, judih, and it's good to see you back.

So sorry you had problems accessing the site.

There are 2 things I know...

1) The site is in dire need of upgrading as we're several versions behind the current software version

and

2) The only person I have to who can help me with it isn't available right now... I'm hoping he'll be available soon (my son)

.......

Hopefully with an upgrade, this issue will get resolved.

Also on the agenda is to get the banners to rotate so every time you click there's a different banner or something along those lines.... We have a library of over 100 by now, so that should be fun.

But I can't do this myself because every time I've tried to upgrade the forum software, I screwed it up and had to get the host to restore the site from 24 hours before and it was a pain and we lost posts and since that happened 2 or 3 times, they're not too happy with me

sighhh..

what can ya do?

wing it, I say... wing it!

I really should change the banner... the sunrise/sunset thing is getting old....

tomorrow.......

hi pierre, now that i'm in i want to thank you for taking the time to offer advice.

i'd done all that and it hadn't done a thing for me. the firefox solution was two-fold - i had to clear the cache and then specifically look for studio 8 cookies and remove the cookies.

it's worked. i remember doreen offering that advice many years ago to someone, but i just didn't know how to do it on firefox.
now that i do, i've done it and hopefully won't need to re-do it in the near future.

but thanks for taking the time to lend a hand!

I use internet explorer: no problems to sign in s-8 but since some weeks ago Microsoft was reminding me that my windows is not an original version! I ´ve got now a program to run in the computer to stop the insistence, I´ll try it! :) (maybe) as a consecuence of that the computer sometimes doesn´t start, it´s slow, and the actualizations and antivirus don´t upload. I used to yell a lot with the computer, but considering it´s a bastard, it´s eleven years old, it had several viruses, a crashed disco, six years wandering internet and a begginner unskillful user I´m starting to feel affection towards her!

salud to yours!

1. for a few days, i've been able to show up without emptying out cache or cookie. hallelujah.

2. arcadia - when explorer suggested my windows wasn't original, i panicked and searched for my authenticity key (i'd bought my windows, really and i knew i was legit).

I couldn't find the key, so i bought another one.
now, i find that it works like shit. i prefer firefox.

or did, till this studio 8 problem. but now, there's no problem, so i say firefox is cool.

As for your 11 year old computer, bravo. That's wonderful. viruses are what killed a few of mine, plus need for more memory.

now i'm looking for a laptop so i can get out of this computer corner of mine and hit the fresh air of a table top.

but that's another story.
