I joined this joint five years ago. I can't believe it's been five years. Seems like "only yesterday," as they say...

My anniversary was yesterday, 8.15.04... we've been here a long time. How do we it?

?
just wondering
I quess you did not notice that thread?
which seemed like a good place to comment on this subject

And you might say it is none my fucking bizness where you make your comments about studio eight.
And of course you would be right.

On a personal note:

I always feel like I just got here
No matter where I am

I was born yesterday.
Or so it seems.

Yeah, I guess I missed that one. This place has a lot of boards; sometimes I don't get to 'em all. I think I need to stop "pome-ing" for a while. Kind of runnin' out of steam. Been an interesting five years. No, it's not, you know, over over. Just for a while..

Well I guess it is easy to keep up with all the boards when you are an idiot like me. What else have I got to do? Go out and get heat stroke? I feel like I am underfucking house arrest. Another 100 degree day.
I need to get a life.
I been trying to deal with it as if my front porch is a Navajo Sweat Lodge.
I was just wondering.

Why stop writing? Well I know I wish I could stop but I don't try anymore.

Need to read more, write less. Listen more, talk less. That's all. Been saying this for a while. I've been arguing too much. Fighting too much. A little sour on things. Everyone goes through it, I think.

Sometimes a good book works better than trying to reason with some people.

My father has seen the seasons.
He comes to curse this needless war.
He rails against all the President's men.
He decries the sacrifice of our children
on a bloodstained altar, like tithe or tax.
We the people, in order to build a more
Perfect bottom line, the noble campaign.
Almighty God of gain write our slogan.
High-minded phrases of freedom.
We go, enslaved by linguistics.

My father now curses a legacy of lies
Built on false pride and senseless waste.
He sees through that now, enough is enough.
Mass murder for profit, death of a race.

Later I find him asleep in his chair,
War Channel on television, volume on high,
Ritual footage of bottomless courage,
Sanitized honor and agony of purpose.
Suicide, like the seasons,
an endless loop.
From the scroll. I been looking around for something and I stumbled on that.

All I know is that when I don't see you around I miss your writing.

One of the things I enjoy most about not smoking pot is that I can go days, weeks even with out posting to studio eight. But I have stopped struggling.

I don't argue much anymore.
I don't see the point.
Better to use your sense of humor, always leave them laughing when you go.
I have read that Jesus was a master of irony, his humor is missedby most people
.

This is another one from The Scroll, I think it is from the word jam we all did a few years ago
don't spoil my funk
self-medicate junk,
a one sided-scale
all velocity
no proclivity,
streets of god man
not nativity,
and ain't nobody son
can take these
dirty deeds
away from me.

I really like it.

I am sorry about the cartoon. If not for the Sunday funnies I would go insane I think.

thanks for the words

I remember that one. It was just a little "instant flash of irony" when I saw him asleep and all the bombs and misery going off. He had the volume way up too. And we had just been talking about Iraq-- how much BS George fed us. One of those poems I never went back to edit-- just threw it out there, and away.

Thanks for your words too, Jack.
