The guy oughta just stand there outside the event and jerk his dick. Carrying that rifle amounts to the same thing. I used to know a girl who, when some guy outside the restaraunt we were eating in had a big booming stereo going, said to the rattling window, "Nice stereo, dude. Sorry about your penis." I'd say much the same to this man.
Peace,
Barry
PS: Though I do uphold the right to bear arms. I think it's in the Constitution so the gov't knows that if they ever become too tyrannical, lots of people out there have guns. I just think it's stupid to walk around with them like this dork is doing. It's just something we gotta endure to preserve our own freedom. And Obama knows this. That's what makes him a good president. Dig?

In Wisconsin, we have laws which make it legal to carry firearms. Not conceal them mind you, but have them fully out in the open to show that you are indeed carrying one. You conceal it, it's found, then you're fined. Of course, should you legally display your weapon in public, you will be fined anyway, for disturbing the peace.
That's hypocrisy to me. Just make up your mind already, and be done with it.

A right to bare arms stops when the arms are aimed at the innocent... or should be.

Cecil, I have to agree with you in principle. But while your statement is impactful, it really has little to do with the whole 2nd Amendment issue. I stand by my above statement. Take away the right to bear arms and criminals will still bear them and aim them at the innocent. A gun ban will never change this fact. And if only the gov't has the right to bear arms and the citizenry is legally barred from doing so, well...that's a pretty grim picture of incipient tyranny and/or totalinarianism.

Barry

After some 250 years of the 2d amendment, our country is the most armed citizenry in the entire world. Your statement: "Take away the right to bear arms and criminals will still bear them and aim them at the innocent," is absolute fact. There is no turning back the clock as far as this right of ours... and should anyone try, it would be futile. We must live as civil as we must in order to prevent, if not delay, a mass killing of innocents should insanity prevail, guns being the first cause of action when tempers flair out of control. But even saying that is no more than an ideal.

I assume your speaking for the U.S...? Many other countries have either no right to bear arms or a limited right at best, but I'm not sure these countries have a tyrannical or totalitarian-style government... although if that were to happen in the U.S. our people would certainly think that way.

I was thinking more about the safety of the president than I was the right to bear arms.
Last week, a man with a gun strapped to his leg held a sign outside an Obama town hall meeting in Portsmouth, N.H., that read: "It's time to water the tree of liberty."

We've got to be one of the most fucked-up societies ever. Well, one of them, at least. Maybe that's why we've created so much great art. And we've got this huge military and manifest destiny complex too, which makes it interesting. "Water the tree of liberty." Sure, why not. Piss on it. Yeah. Remember when Obama said we get so hung up on God and guns that we can't see the forest for the trees? Or something like that? Well, Mr. O. took a lotta shit about that remark. But hey, there ya go.

I wonder if it has something to do with us being the mother of all bastard nations. Europe got rid of its nut jobs by sending them to the new world?

True in at least one case I was thinking of when I made my post: Great Britian. Pretty hard to call Great Britian either tyrannical or totalitarian. But I bet if we googled the right words and phrases we'd find that
every totalitarian society ever had a ban on the citizenry owning weapons. I'm just speculating though.
After some 250 years of the 2d amendment, our country is the most armed citizenry in the entire world.
I wonder if this why we are also a citizenry enjoying some of the greatest freedoms in the entire world. The fact that you and I can discuss this in public with impunity is a case in point. My balloon release that I do every year is another. Unlike this last event, it's usually done with two hundred balloons or more from a public park. I advertise it freely on the internet. I've notified news media and city gov't organizations about it. I've never been hassled by anyone. Ever. That's freedom. Freedom to criticize and protest beyond simple discussion. After 250 years of the 2nd Amendment, I can only assume it is why I have this freedom. Say they put a gun ban in the Constitution 250 years ago. Do you think you and I would
still be so free?
I wonder if it has something to do with us being the mother of all bastard nations. Europe got rid of its nut jobs by sending them to the new world?
When we in America begin to love ourselves again, we will no longer be a bastard nation or a country of nut jobs. It's not the fucked up nature of American society that produces this attitude. It's this attitude that produces the fucked up nature of American society. You are what you believe in. Ask the
creative visualization "nut jobs." They'll tell you. Don't like the America you see? Visualize a better one.

Barry

I did not mean to give offense Barry. perhaps bastard was a poor word choice. I meant mongrel nation. Made up of the wretched refuse of teeming shores. I am first generation, this country has been good to the Jews. We were hardly ever lynched here. Maybe because we had black people to take the heat.
I don't know that we have so many freedoms that other countries don't have. Maybe we should mount an operation Canadian freedom to bring the blessings of freedom to them. And I think we should liberate the poor enslaved people of Norway while we are at it.
They have all that oil. And we sure have the killing power to do it.
I am visualizing my ass off.

Cynicism my ass, I was as serious as a fart in a space suit. I can not think of another country that is such a mixture of peoples. I did not get cynical till you told me to love it or leave it. That is the way it sounded to me. Were is Ronnie Raygunz when we need to feel good about america again.
"Perhaps the only true dignity of man is his capacity to despise himself. Santayana"
"Inheriting from the Protestant tradition a conscience which insisted that intellectual work should be directed toward the relief of man's estate, I like so m any of my generation, lived through the superannuating of the political categories....Those of us who are temperamentally incapable of embracing the politics of sin , cynicism, and despair...." Life Against Death"
You might call these my balloons. My thought balloons.

If it sounded to you like I was saying love it or leave it, truck, that speaks more of you than of me.
Why is it okay to talk shit about a person's country but not their religion?
Imagine how you would feel if someone came on this board and started talking a bunch of smack about Jews.
America is a mix of many peoples. That's what makes it great. Or would you rather see one race running the world?
Which one?
Peace,
Barry
