Condolences to Lrod
Re: Condolences to Lrod
Belated in their arrival, all my condolences, Lrod.
I spend so much time with those who are dying and with the remains of those who have died; with those tasting mourning and with those who've long cried.
And it's not uncommon for me to touch death...to lay a hand of blessing on a clay pot...to trace a promise over a forehead in a tiny criss-cross. And there is often so much love in the grief that surrounds--sometimes weeping, sometimes laughing, always in love. And while I've never met the face all painted brightly in colors, I've witnessed the love that blushes those who remain with brightly-painted joy for the lives they've loved to know and known in love.
Blessed are the face-painted dead, for theirs is the joy that lives on.

Re: Condolences to Lrod
Thanks Joel
I used to avoid funerals, just from youthful idiocy and my reluctance to admit the possibility of death. But over the years I have attended some lovely ones and have come to appreciate them as the celebrations of life that they are. It's good to bless someone by remembering them, even for just a moment, in their best light, for their bravest deeds, in their noblest moments. Funerals are happy occasions. I thought weddings and births were the happy occasions and funerals were sad. I get things backwards like that sometimes.

Re: Condolences to Lrod
Very belatedly...condolences.
A reprise from "Surrender"...
Lightning Rod, sorry for the loss of your Mom.
I know how it is... Both of my folks are dead...
I remember when the grief was new. My Mom died in 1998
and my Dad died in 1999.
Loss of parents is never easy. May the Lord bless your
Mom and keep her safe within heaven's gates.
L-Rod, keep those epistles coming into the net. You're a great soul.
