I am always speaking it
something whispering these words to me all the time even as I read them back to you
writting is a drag for me
I am talking to you with a
cb microphone in my hand
as I watch the world pass by my windshield which is now a computer screen
I got no complaint as I sit and wonder
wonder about life after studio eight
it is what it is
it is my little pond
unto which I plop

Driving that elephant truck
crawling between those gray legs big as tree trunks
chaining them down to ride
so they did not hurt themselves
I wondered what scares me more
getting stepped on or pissed on
Even so
Nothing worse than getting pissed on by a pissant
takes sense of humor to deal with that
I have read that a sign of enlightenment is humor
if you ain't got that
well I guess you ain't got nuttin

next stop tucson to tucumcari — tehatchapi to tonapah
out on the road I see my pretty alice in every headlight
so lost when I lost
my life on the road
and then I found another road
the night I stumbled on litkicks
they say gratitude is the only prayer that matters
still grateful for litkicks
litkicks always be that moonlight on a mountain pass at midnight for me

Back in 1998, I used to go to a site called The Scroll ... http://scroll.org
Thom, owner of the site, has kept the archives up for reading but it's closed for posting.
Anyway, there's only one member here who knew me from way back then and that's Yejun. We go way back.
In 2000, my marriage broke up and I went up to Boston to visit my sister and also meet with a lady poet friend from The Scroll. The 3 of us went to a club called "The Lizard Lounge" in Cambridge - http://www.lizardloungeclub.com/main.html
Most of the people there were college students. They had an open mic to open the show and poets went up to the mic to read their works. There was a guy playing the congas and a couple of other musicians (can't remember what type of instruments... guitar and bass I think) accompanying the poets if they wanted the accompaniment.
I brought a huge stack of poetry with me. I had never been up on the stage to read before but I chickened out.
Anyway, after the open mic portion of the show, there was the featured poet who was a spoken word performer. Unfortunately I can't remember her name but she was just awesome! She involved the audience in her spoken word, took over the stage with so much energy I can't even describe it!
And for the finale.... it was FREESTYLING.... people from the audience came up on the stage and grabbed the mic and just started speaking spontaneous poetry.... with the musicians playing...
I just had an awesome time and I said to myself, "THIS is ME!" I felt right at home there.
I love spontaneous spoken word poetry.... freestyling.... it's way fun!
Just a memory connecting writing online to live poetry performances.... I love those the best!
Anyway... I guess my point is... had it not been for writing on the internet, I never would have gotten out there to do live spoken word. Later, Litkicks led me to NYC where I read at both the Bowery Poetry Club and The Back Fence (where I could see the ghosts of Ginsberg and Corso).... and after that, online writing led to the creation of the Cabaradio show, a live show in the DC area which included spoken word poetry.
Just saying... online writing is a wonderful way to connect people and can lead to real life events.... plus many online friendships with other writers. It's a wonderful thing!

It's all good in the network neighborhood. You meet interesting folks, and you see interesting sights and lyrical sounds. You get to
post stuff that other media just reject without any decent reason.
A typical rejection was: "It doesn't meet our current needs. Please feel free to resubmit at a later date..." or "It doesn't meet our format." Huh? You feel like you've been used as a "FLOORMAT". Thank the Lord for the underground 'zines--both urban and local...What's up with some of the print media?
The first site I ever clicked on was Peter Max's site. Anyone who hasn't checked it out needs to. I learned about the net from relatives and from clerks at the library. The tutorial made all the light-speed inservice tutorials make sense. I couldn't figure out
what to do with all the icons and was terrible at using a mouse.
This difficulty was back in around 1996. I still need a tutorial in
some things but have come a long way, baby.
