a haiku daily
a jam on occasion
reading always

busy putting together a paper on Gretel Bergmann, now Margaret Lambert, who was a champion high jumper slated to be on the German Olympic team for the 1936 Berlin Games , but who was kicked out for being Jewish 2 weeks before the opening of the games. She's an amazing, modest, humorous lady still living in Jamaica, New York (at 96).

Working on this kind of paper involves understanding that in spite of huge political machinery, a woman dedicated to her sport with focused determination has kept her spirit alive with amazing energy.

so, i'm busy. it's not easy trying to be intelligent -

Very cool, judih! Sounds like an interesting paper!
Busy busy busy. That's a good thing!

As for me, thinking of a collaboration with a photographer to create a book of photography & poetry (new poetry to accompany the photos), painting some, just finished a large abstract canvas, resting a lot (necessary!), creating a perennial garden, gotta get back to swimming which is on my agenda (this weekend!).

I'll be attending the Riverbend Festival in Chattanooga for the next nine evenings and nights. The gates open at 4:30 pm tonight. I will probably arrive around 7:30 pm.

Other than that, I've been doing lots of errands and some late spring cleaning...

... at home!  well, partially...!. First June in my life since I was five, I guess, that I´m not at school or at a job or unnemployed... sort of proletarian disorientation... but it feels good! My voice returned again as it used to be but a bit dessacelerated last week. I´ve been reading, seeing films and walking the street just to walk late in the mornings. Since yesterday I´m cooking and ordering somehow the dep to welcome more than 30 friends & family during the weekend (rebirth annual celebration).

I hope that Artguy's "stone shattering" went well. Kidney stones are very painful to pass. Even the shards may be painful.
