online banking

Do you use online banking? Seems like everybody in the world does these days.

I still write checks to pay my bills. :D

Anyway, for some reason I'm leery and worried about signing up. I guess I'm paranoid. You have to enter your ATM card # and your password just to start the sign-up process.

Concerned about entering that online ...

I buy stuff online all the time from amazon.com ... i have no problem with that. I also use paypal to send $ to friends, etc., to buy their chapbooks or pay for something else online..... but I'm leery of online banking.

Anybody want to assuage my concerns?

For one thing... there are 2 URLS... the official site at thebankname.com ... then you click to create an online banking account and it takes you to.... onlinebanking.thebanknamebutnotexactlythesame.com to sign up.

*shiver* Where am I? Not sure I'm at the right place.

Just leery... maybe I should stick to checks and using my ATM card. All I want to do is transfer some $ from one account to another. I could just go to the bank and do it like I've always done.

Comments?

Does not sound right to me my bank asks for act # pw and security question
why should you have to give your atm number and be redirected? call your bank.

RE. Amazon
I have read that it is safer to order stuff online with a credit card instead of a debit card.

error: the format that I have for bank account is not cuenta corriente but caja de ahorro...  (if you have a cuenta corriente you can have cheques, for example). A of people that I know use the salary caja de ahorro to pay with debit card without problems. I don´t do it, mainly for liquidity reasons and because I´m not used to it.

Something seriously wrong with that scenario you described Doreen. No way you should be redirected to another site, and no reason to give your card number.
