online banking

Do you use online banking? Seems like everybody in the world does these days.
I still write checks to pay my bills.
Anyway, for some reason I'm leery and worried about signing up. I guess I'm paranoid. You have to enter your ATM card # and your password just to start the sign-up process.
Concerned about entering that online ...
I buy stuff online all the time from amazon.com ... i have no problem with that. I also use paypal to send $ to friends, etc., to buy their chapbooks or pay for something else online..... but I'm leery of online banking.
Anybody want to assuage my concerns?
For one thing... there are 2 URLS... the official site at thebankname.com ... then you click to create an online banking account and it takes you to.... onlinebanking.thebanknamebutnotexactlythesame.com to sign up.
*shiver* Where am I? Not sure I'm at the right place.
Just leery... maybe I should stick to checks and using my ATM card. All I want to do is transfer some $ from one account to another. I could just go to the bank and do it like I've always done.
