i just wanted to share some good news with you guys.
our green card applications were approved. we should get it within the next 3 weeks. (yay!) and i got a part time job. it's seasonal and short term for now, but a foot in the door. i am SO grateful for all of this and all the awesome people that carried us through and did their parts to help. i guess when i asked the universe to help me, god answered. this gives me a lot of hope.
happy thanks giving to all of ya (and drive safely if you're going somewhere.)

artguy...i'm originally from south africa. we moved here 5 years ago when my husband got a job offer.
doreen...i'm in ohio. isn't that right next door? would be great to meet sometime. thanks. i'm excited about the job. it's still very part time, but after 5 years of not being allowed to work because of my visa status, it's a great opportunity for me and we'll see what happens next. and don't worry about it. you pm when you pm and thanks so much for all your thoughts. hugs back
cecil

...thanks. it was so funny to open those letters and see "welcome to the united states of america" after being here for 5 years already. but i'll take any welcome. it's just great to have that uncertainty and stress gone.
jack...thank you. i'm starting on black friday of all days and at 2h30 in the morning! aaarrgh! haha. i'll just have to take enough naps and put on my brave shoes.
arcadia...thanks!!!
mr. nazzy... thankyou
judih...happy news is like a breath of hope for everyone who gets it and hears it. after sitting still for so long i'm gonna rock 'n roll this one

I would welcome you but I'm a canuck (Canadian). I am always intrigued by those who uproot themselves and go off to live in a new culture, change their lives completely. I am especially in wonder of those who come from war torn lands with nothing but hope.

SmileGRL, Glad you got your green card! Seasons Greetings from Tennessee!
(Oh, incidentally, West Virginia is between Virginia and Ohio, & so is Maryland. If you are in the Cincinnati area, you've got a ways to travel to get to Virginia. Never travel in that area without a map 'cause GPS is not so good through there. It's mountainous. You also could go through Ohio, then through Pennsylvania and down through Maryland, to the DC metro area & Northern Virginia, which, I think, is close to where Doreen is located.)
Oh, another thing, geography is one of my hobbies. I love maps, etc.
