Solitude on Christmas day, I am weird that way. The sweetest Christmases I have known were those I spent alone. Either over the road or walking on a beach, or in a cabin on a mountain top, or in some beat motel in the heart of a city.

The most precious gift I have ever recieved besides the gift of life is my siblings. I Never had children, hard to relate to people who live their lives for their children. I am selfish, from a selfish generation.

day after Christmas blues
I guess
Thanks for taking the time to reply
The only Christmas present I ever got as a child was a little peg board set when I was very young four or five. My best friend was a Christian kid who lived next door who was all psyched up about Christmas and so I got psyched up too so my mother gave in to the pressure. But never again she caught so much hell from her parents about "goy" holidays. We never went their again.

I wanted a pet dog so badly, but my mother refused it over and over.
For this Christmas my Grandmother wrapped a gem and silver dog collar up, it was an antique and the excitement thinking I was to get a pet dog. He wasn't real, but he became real after I set my mind to it.
I was happy she entertained me in my interest,
best Christmas as a child.

Even one
j ust one happy Christmas
can last a child a life time
I know
My total wonderment that intense feeling of joy when I saw that peg set so magically appear is still this old man's admission into the kingdom of heaven

Lets all do it again next winter.

When you're 10 years old, every year at Christmas, it's like Deja Few.

But when you get older, it's like Deja OMG I forgot what I was going to say again.

heh

But to answer your question, let us not forget the true meaning of the season. Santa Claus was born in a manger and his mother never had sex. Surrounding him were 12 elves. They called them the apostles. Later on, after he grew up and his hair turned grey and he grew a big long grey beard and gained a lot of weight, the hung him from a Christmas tree, just for you, so that when you are reborn, you too can become an elf and create gifts for children all over the world.

This is the true, best gift of Christmas.

Amen.

Dig it 8) :D

Studio Eight your gift to us that keeps me going. I don't know anything about raising kids. I have heard it said: "Have children and let them raise you"
I have never grown up.
So at the tender age of seventy
I am another aging child

on a carousel of time"

I have heard that the reason for the season is the Earth's tilt.

nothing that money can buy as far as I can remember!. When I was a kid I loved extended family long reuniones in both sides of my grandparent´s homes for the fiestas..., they were themselves a great gift!. On the last years, my sobrinos, of course!: they, as all the kids I guess, have the power to shake the too much melancholy, tiredeness or irony it could also arise at this time the year :)

&... Amen, doreen!!!!!!!!!

Another best Christmas was a year I had slipped down in the wee hours to have a peek at what Santa had brought, the excitement was too nudging and I couldn't do right by staying upstairs.

Well, to my horror I saw a huge 12 speed bike, what I thought was a 'granny' bike, blue with large fenders, a giant seat and it had my name on it in gold. I went to sleep thinking it was because I'd peeked, it was to be a punishment, etc and etc.,

but that monster of a bike was a real gem to ride, it had all the comforts, no mud up my shirt back, I could drive through puddles, it was the sweetest bike I've owned and I found the humor in the whole affair to be to my liking, fond in the memory.

The best... out of fifty Christmases?

That would have to be this Christmas...
and the only Christmases gift given me, this year...
is... a higher level of friendship, with an
already terrific friend.

worth the wait,

One small present, I liked quite a bit, was the four inches of snow we got this Christmas in Chattanooga. We built "Katmandu" the cat snowman. :D
